I have a Moleskine pocket sketch book that I've been toting around and
using on occasion for the last couple of years and love its toughness
and definitely want to stay within the family.
I've been pretty excited about the reporter notebooks since they came
out. I use an A4 Legal Pad at work to track lists, think things out,
etc, and love the vertical motion of pages. Has anyone picked up a
pocket reporter notebook? How are they? Specifically - how is the back
pocket? As good as a regular Moleskine?
One of the few Moleskine's I did see locally was the pocket memo book
[1], also known as the accordion file folder. I was thinking of getting
the reporter notebook in place of a "hipster PDA", because I do not
like what happens to index cards in my pocket and found that they get
too disorganized. But the pocket memo book seems to be the right size
to hold 3x5's and has some organizational capabilities as well. Has
anyone had any glaringly negative experiences with these?

Lastly - I'm curious about the Volant and Cahier line. Does anyone
prefer the pocket size of these over the pocket Moleskines? From what I
can gather looking at the web site, three of these (volant / cahier) is
equivalent to one Moleskine. Has the thinness been a better factor for
carrying always carrying one with you? Or has the thinness been a good
factor for keeping books with short timelines and less history
(therefor easier to use/organize/discard/etc)?
I'm probably going to place an order at moleskineus.com in the next
couple of days. I'm hoping to get out a bit more and check out some
more retail establishments around here to see if I can find any (I
swore I've seen big racks of them... But I may be mixing in memories of
other cities and wonderful bookstores like Powells). But not having any
tactile reference otherwise, I'm asking for the community's input.
Thanks,

I use the large version of this 'book currently.
The only complaint I have is that I can't fold 8.5x11 paper and stuff
it in there, I have to put in another fold across the paper to get it
in there.
It hadn't occured to me that Hipsters may like the 3x5 size, but it
makes perfect sense to me. The guy at my local paper/pen shop said
that he knows women that use them as wallets.
