Howdy -- I'm looking for a contact management app; hopefully something
web-based. My situation is fairly typical, where I'm on OS X at home
and, unfortunately, Windows at work. I'm completely hooked on
Backpack, and in a perfect world the good folks at 37Signals would make
something that would let me manage my address book. Failing that, are
there any suggestions out there?

Thanks,
Dieter

I really like Airset -- www.43folders.com. I'm using it to manage
contacts and my work and family calendars (including calendards for
each member of my family.) Very cool capabilities that no other
calendar application has.

I'll take a look -- thanks! Any other suggestions out there?

Lots of options.

Most online email folks put some fairly sophisticated contact
management into their email tools. Fastmail.fm, Yahoo email, Gmail,
etc... all let you enter more info for a contact than just an email
address.

For a more elegant solution, you can always get a .Mac account and
sync your address book. Just log into .Mac and you'll have all your
contacts and can add/edit them as needed!

Lastly, you could look at a cross platform contacts manager such as
Now Contact to handle your stuff and set up a synchronization server.

Depends on what you mean by contact management. If you just want
universal access to and updating of your contact info, I recommend a
.Mac account and Address Book in OSX. I always have access to my
addresses over the web, it's secure, and it syncs automatically with my
Powerbook.

This obviously won't fit the bill if you want to track phone calls,
contact points, etc.
