Hi,

I'm looking a good programming IDE for windows because the company
where I work now requires that I use a Windows machine, but I'm so
familiarized with TextMate, and love the auto completion feature.

Anyone knows something similar for Windows?
specially for the Autocompletion feature.

Which language are you programming in? Eclipse just rocks for Java.

TextPad is a good editor.

Hello,

I know that on Windows there is JEdit (a Java-based programmer's editor - as
a matter of fact, it should work also on Mac and Linux, since it's written
in Java). AFAIR, it has auto completion.

Or maybe you would like to use a full-featured IDE (I was under the
impression that TextMate is more like an editor, not a full IDE). Eclipse is
very nice for Java and C/C++ (with CDT) and also now there are plug-ins for
a LOT of other languages.

If you work in .NET, there is a free IDE called SharpDevelop or, depending
on the project requirements, maybe even the Express products from Microsoft
(which are also free, I believe).

Best regards,

It's all about Eclipse these days - that is the ultimate IDE in my
opinion. I was sold on the fact that I could restore code to stuff I
was working on yesterday, *before* I tried to do something interesting,
i.e., break it ;)

Check it out at www.eclipse.org. It's got a bustling user community
and there are new plugins all the time. I know you can do Java, C/C++,
Perl, plus text editing, HTML, draw UML diagrams, and even instant
messaging!

And, it's written in Java, so you could bring it to your home machine
as well.

When I used PC's I love a program called UltraEdit. Not free, but very
powerful.

Crimson Editor is a nice, freeware text editor with syntax highlighting (though not code completion). www.crimsoneditor.com

UltraEdit does code completion, but, as Surfbits says, isn't free.

Vim works for Windows too, you know...
It's got autocomplete, intellisense [1], and pretty much anything else
you might need.

The Zeus for Windows IDE:

http://www.zeusedit.com/features.html
Note: Zeus is shareware (45 day trial).

It has features like class browsing, syntax highlighting,
smart indent, code folding, project/workspace management,
integrated version control etc etc.

Try PSPad. I've been using it for a while already and I think it's
great :)

Ultraedit is in fact shareware and not freeware.
