Hello Google Earth, Sketchup and Building Maker users!
I’d like to take a moment to define the purpose of the Geo-modeling forum and share how we Google Guides can help you here. This forum is a place for geo-modelers like you to talk to and learn from one another, and we want to help as best we can.
The forum should be a place for collaboration and support amongst the geo-modeling community. It’s a great venue to communicate with other people who share our passion for modeling. Many contributors are knowledgeable on everything from acceptance criteria to best practices to modeling techniques, and can often provide great insight into issues you may be experiencing with 3D modeling.
Perhaps most importantly, this should be a safe place to discuss hot topics. Sharing your perspective with a civil tone will undoubtedly earn you the most productive responses and respect from your fellow modelers. We all come with our own perspectives on 3D modeling strategies and friendly debates are welcome.
While we’ll help with technical problems or issues, the forum is not the place to change the judgement of a model. The fastest and most efficient way get a model live is to follow the acceptance criteria. However, if your model is denied inclusion in Google Earth and you disagree with the rejection, you can appeal it and have us take a second look. The appeals process is set up to accurately and efficiently review models based on your comments and any additional information you provide [for example, links to photos and websites]. It’s the best way to explain why your model was incorrectly judged and get it included in Google Earth.
I hope this post helps clarify expectations for the Geo-modeling forum and where we’ll step in to help out. We are always looking forward to hearing how you all are doing, learning from you and seeing your next model!
