Hi,

This is a paid job offer. Please reply only if you are interested and have a portfolio of existing work to show.

We're looking for 3D model histories (i.e. several files of the same 3D model as it is being developed over time) for research purposes. Architectural or city-like models with a few million polys in the final stage are preferred. If you have existing backups or even better if you are modeling from scratch and willing to write a log of actions, please do get in touch.

Thanks,
Jozef

Hi,

I'm interested;
I always save with a number-up to keep my history !

Kind regards,
TT

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. The models you linked to are either simple or moderate complexity. Do you also do highly detailed models? If so, could you please provide an example of two consecutive saves of the same 3D model via email?

Thanks,
Jozef Dobos

Hello Jozef

Exactly what types of models are you looking for ? ie. Specifically Architectural ?
BTW - Models with millions of polys probably won't be found in the 3DWH because of the Maximum Upload Size of models being 10 MB.

I have several complex models that have nothing to do with Google Earth/Geo-Modeling but I also have lots of those too, including several complex models (as far as Google Earth models go).

Ferrari World

Trunnion Bascule Bridge

Train Bridge

All of my Bridges

All of my Google Earth Models

Complex Models that are over 10MB (which is likely the case for multi-million poly models) must be shared via Email or FTP or the like.
If you describe the types of models you wish to see for examples, please describe in more detail and I'll be able to tell you if I have what you want.
That said, I have no doubt that I can probably model anything you might ever want modeled due to my long-term and varied experience using SketchUp (since v4 ... Architectural GE Models, Highly Detailed Architectural Models, Gadgets, Product Prototypes etc).

Hi  Jozef ,

I think that I can help you.
But as SnowTiger said, I tried to minimize the complexity and not show too much details to meet Google acceptance criteria.
But I'm totally capable of creating very detailed models.

Looking forward to hearing from you and hope we can cooperate in the future.

Hi,

Ideally, we would need something of a game level quality, but generic architectural buildings, complexes or cities will do as well. Would you be able to provide sample of a saved history (at least two consecutive versions of the same 3D model)? From a research point of view the type of model does not matter. What matters is the variety of modeling techniques, complexity, detail etc.

Thanks,
Jozef

The file size and data delivery is not an issue.

Please drop me an email for details. You can search for my name using your favourite search engine (this forum deletes posts if email address is included :(

Is there anyone interested? So far I got zero modelers.

Thanks,
Jozef

Hi Jozef

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner.
I'm not sure that a) I have all that you are looking for (as far as numerous saved versions ... I usually have 2 or 3 at most), AND
b) I have been busy with prior commitments lately and will be for a few days yet before I'll have time to sort through and see what I have that you might be interested in.

Once I'm done that which I already have in front of me, I will respond to your email (received a few days ago) and will include whatever I have to offer ... assuming I can find that which it is you are interested in.

Have a great day.

Well, maybe because this is not the ideal list for this request in my
opinion. You see, this list is about geomodelling. When building
models for Google Earth one of the aims is to have a simple (yet good-
looking) model.

Chris already told you:

That's exactly the point why people here don't have (and don't want to
have) such complex models. A good geomodel has maybe 200 or - if
complex - 1000 faces. If I had a model with 100'000 faces or more I
would have done some really, really big mistake.

I do have a complete history for all of my models, but the most
complex of them have ~1200 faces.

P.S. Do you have *ever* tried working with models of "a few million
polys" in SketchUp? I have one "generated" model with 50000 faces and
another one with 23000 and textures and they are "just" usable. I
doubt SketchUp would be able to cope with more than a million textured
faces, unless maybe on a very fast machine. (If you have different
experiences, it would be interesting to know.)

Hi Matias,

The models in the warehouse are not all connected to Google Earth as such. There are actually plenty of examples of independent models and some with high degree of complexity. I have posted the same call to 5 other forums with zero interest received too.

Would you be willing to share your model history? I do not necessarily insist on 1M polys as such, but ideally I would pay you for modelling from scratch.

Thanks,
Jozef

Hi Jozef,

with the little information I have I am rather not interested either.

I have started to update all the models in my town this year. While
this includes creating a few more from scratch it mainly means re-
positioning and re-texturing existing morels in the months to come.
Plus I have some more non-GE related things to finish right now in my
spare time which leaves me quite busy the way it is already.
