Hi,
I checked the model and used the outliner but still can't find the empty component. Can anyone help me in finding it??

I appreciate any help.

Model info shows three component definitions...

You could just explode all of them and re-upload the model.

Hi CraigD,

I had the same problem with few other models (all are light models).
I exploded the components but I got the same error again!!!!

What should I do????

3 suggestions:

1) Go to the top menu bar, and under View, click "Hidden Geometry."  It is possible you may have hidden an element, group or component in the making of your model, and may have forgotten about it. The Hidden Geometry option will reveal any invisible edge with broken lines, and any invisible texture with grid-lines.
2) Go to the Components window, click on the house icon ("In Model") for a list of components in your project, and see if any of them look blank and empty.  If such a component serves no purpose whatsoever in supporting the model, you might as well delete it.
3) It's also likely that at some some point before sharing a model, you would have been shown the option of purging unwanted items that don't show, but declined to do so.  It's always best to take care of that in advance, by opening up the "Model Info" window.

Hi Asdas, I haven't found any problems with the uploaded models and they all look ok. They've been accepted so they should go live in this week's push if there aren't any unforeseen issues.

I'm not sure why you're receiving the error, so I'll have to look into that.

Cheers,

Hi CraigD,

I took Jago716's advice and showed the hidden geometry. I found some geometry that I deleted but still had some hidden geometry. So I deleted it and uploaded the models again.
I hope that solves the problem and doesn't delay the acceptance and getting live on Google Earth.

Thanks a lot CraigD and Jago716 I really appreciate your advice.

Hi Asdas, I'm glad you found the problem. Looks like your models are still all accepted, but still have another level of review. Hopefully all will go through without a problem.

Cheers,

Hi,

I would really want to thank Jago716 very much. Your first suggestion solved the problem (I applied the other two before and that didn't solve it).
I had extra hidden geometry (not a component or a group) but I think that what made the problem.
And the models now are accepted and coming soon (I hope that doesn't change when applying the 3d layer update :-)).

I just wanted to thank you and show my appreciation.

Hi CraigD,

I really don't know what is going on here. After the models got accepted and coming soon. Now after the update, I got the same error "empty component". I really don't know what to do. The models don't have components at all and I checked if there is extra hidden geometry and didn't find anything. What can I do now???!!!!

I really appreciate if anyone has any ideas to fix this problem, especially CraigD.

The only thing returned by the ruby api in the component definition list is two objects, both of which are groups. These two groups are the sketchup terrain and snapshot.

Try to copy the light poles and paste them into a new file where you redo the georeference and it may solve the problem. Something seems wrong with these groups.
