Hello everyonne!
I'm having problems with the 3d buildings layer. 3d building are
automatically loaded when I navigate to the area, but always with
uncompleted texture, like that of the terrain when loading.

I tried to clear the cache. It didn't work.
Please, how could I fix this problem?

Bonjour, c'est certainement un problème de cache dans GE.
Il faut revoir la taille du cache.
Alors Lyon?

Hello jiayi

I am unsure what is going on, but it appears to begin loading but just
not finish loading.
Next time to go to look at this model or any others, set your view
angle and distance (i.e. orbit/zoom in GE) and then leave the mouse
alone while the model(s) and textures load completely.

Experiment - Let us know the results >>
In case you weren't already aware, there is a small blue circle that
Swirls in the Bottom Right Corner of the GE Window/Screen while data
is still loading into GE. Any time you orbit or move to another
location or view in GE, you should see this swirl take place.
Make sure it has stopped loading all data and see if there is any
difference.

If it does stop loading and the textures are incomplete OR if the
swirl does not stop swirling then the problem will require additional
diagnosing. But the results of the above mentioned experiment may help
narrow down the issue(s).

PS> Please make sure GE and all your video drivers and windows updates
etc are all Up To Date.
Many problems are often attributed (and thus cured) by maintaining and
up-to-date computer (hardware and software).

Also please let us know how you make out.

Bonjour Bernard,
J'ai 500 mo de mémoire et 2000 mo de disque dur attribués au GE. A mon
Cordialement
Jia Yi

Hello SnowTiger,

Thank you for your detailed explanation.
I tried as you said. The blue circle stopped and the textures are
incomplete.
It looks like GE does not have the access to full textures.....

By the way, Everything has its newest version, including Google
Chrome :-)

Hello again jiayi

I'm sorry to hear things aren't yet working properly for you.

Have you considered trying to re-install GE ? Or have you already done
that too ?

It does sound like something is interfering with GE, preventing it
from completing the texture loading.
I wonder if it could be anything to do with Anti-Virus software or a
firewall or the like ? Probably not, since you mentioned that the
circle stops swirling, indicating that GE has finished loading all the
visible models and textures.
That in itself might make re-installation of GE worth the time and
effort.

You could re-install directly over the existing OR uninstall first and
then re-install.
At least this is the order which I would attempt to correct this
issue.

Best of luck with it ... hopefully you will soon find a viable
solution.
IF/When you do find a working solution, I recommend you post that
solution so that others may benefit from it if they find they too are
experiencing similar issues.

Hi SnowTiger,

I re-installed GE. It still doesn't want to load complete textures,
neither the plugin for IE and Chorme.
What is strange, there are few Building Maker-made models in the 3d
layer well loaded. Otherwise, all models that are not in the layer
don't have the symptom.
I considered if it came from the server. But someone in the same
residence has his GE running well.

Thank you again for your patience. It was so nice.
I'll put my solution here if I manage to find one.

Hi,
I found ...... this is normal:
this is not the cache, neither GE .....
THESE ARE THE MODELS OF THE 3D WAREHOUSE:

Hi jiayi

I'm sorry to hear your issue has not yet been resolved although as
"bdhy" mentioned, there are many models (especially Building Maker
models) that are not textured all that well, giving the impression
that one has graphics problems.

On the other hand, I did a quick experiment myself today.
I aligned a view in a city with lots of buildings (in GE) and watched
the "swirling circle" to see when it was done loading data etc.

What I found was that while the swirling had stopped, there were quite
a few textures that had not yet been loaded. Although I waited for
maybe a full minute by the time the rest of the textures loaded and
came into focus, even after the swirling circle had stopped swirling.

Ultimately, this then proved to me that textures continue to load even
after GE indicates everything has loaded. Furthermore, those buildings
that have not been either modeled and/or textured well, never come
into focus due to the quality of the textures used.

Best of luck to you.

Hi bdhy & SnowTiger

It is a good idea to create a collection like this. There are some
models which are, frankly speaking, not perfect enough to be accepted
in the 3d buildings layer.

Any way, this seems not to cause my problems. Please have a look at
this location on GE:
48° 7'18.72"N, 1°38'7.87"W
Here are some models that I made last year. But I can't just visualize
them myself (unless I download them separately). The image below is
what actually I get:
http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/SjOjkG3GrfSjC27ErR94PQ?feat=directlink

If I clear the cache, keeping focusing on this location, I can see
terrains being competed and models being loaded. But everything stops
just before the last step, that textures will never be finished, even
if I wait for minutes. It is quite discouraging.

I've been having this problem since I changed a computer. I'm using
Windows 7 64bits. I don't know if Google has any difficulty with it.
Looks like Google Chrome goes very slow after about 1 hour's use.

Thanks again for being helping me.

Hello Everyone,

Problem solved!!!

In fact I just posted the same question in the Help forum. And I saw a
frequently-viewed question, and that's it !

May it help those who have the same problem!

Something else to try. Although this is not a permanent fix, it would
be very useful to know if it works.

Go to Start> Run> and type msconfig into the box. When the msconfig
dialog box appears, go to the "start" tab and select "extended
options". Tick "maximum memory" and enter 3000 MB. Accept the change
and then re-boot the PC. Then launch GE.

There was an issue with GE's data stream in 4.3, connected with large
RAM memory sizes. It was subsequently fixed but I'm wondering if
that's what is going on here once again.

L.
