Hi,

a small question :

Why the personal collection of D.Gonzalez (DENOALL) is the only personal collection (I recognize excellent!) of a modeler who appears in the selection of the home page of the 3D Warehouse?

I would NOT say excellent at all. In fact a very poor modeller. My
reason: Take a look at his/her Beijing National Aquatics Center. It is
simply a cuboid with wallpaper stuck on. How models like this pass
inspection, its anyones guess I suppose!

Evryones entitled to their opinion and your question raised it for me.

The real texture is a bubble appearance. The users model your enthused
with has a flat texture.

Maybe he is not the best modeller of the 3D Warehouse but he is not
that bad at all, every modeller has some amazing models and some OK
models and the most models of Denoall are better then OK. I think the
only reason he is a part of that collection is, that he asked Google
and so it was Google's decision not his.

Maybe so but for someone to suck up to Google for any reason possibly
monetary is wrong. If that is what you are suggesting?
Sorry but that comment by Bernard was I feel derogatory to the other
good modellers who participate on here as well and do a very hard job
of working for "FREE" to populate Google Earth (which is what Google
Earth wants) with models of whatever quality so it can be a great
experience for all, we all deserve some equal status. This is not
helped by the "chosen ones" who go to Switzerland for the conference
on 3d modelling. Why not just host it live and stream it somewhere? It
is my assumption and probably what Bernard was trying to say but
didn't have the courage too was that those who are going to it are
undeserving of doing so perhaps??

There has simply been no review of everyones modelling skills has
there as those chosen who I have looked at have differing skills in
"excellence"??

Simply because that is not the point of this argument. Everyone
including myself had differing degrees of modelling and we do it "for
pride" in getting our landmarks or our streets recognised and accepted
on Google Earth. If you get paid for it by others, so be it, if your
looking for extra cash, you should be looking at getting a better job,
but please keep your derogatory remarks to yourself. That is all I
ask.

Well, the problem here is not if Denoall is a good modeler or not. The
problem is that someone has added several collections to the
collection that appears on the home page of 3D Warehouse.

If you look, all the collections that were added recently, are all by
Denoall, which makes me think that he did, or someone with permission
to do so, has favored Denoall.

We all can notify this to Google only contacting with the owner of the
collection "3D Building Collection", thing that I will do now.

Hi,
Nesua is right, there are many great modelers. The problem is not the
quality of everyone's work.
I posted this topic because it's the first time a personal collection
appears.
I'm as much an amateur (also called in Zurich at my expense) and I am
aware of working for Google.
But I would not want to lose the side "amateur" because Google's tools
allow me to explore world, both the architecture and history through
my designs.
If professionals who live in this work (I know in France) took the
lead ... amateurs leave!

The Google-owned collections are managed more or less the same way anybody else's collections are managed.  That is, either we find some models we like while browsing around, or somebody asks to have their collection added and we think it's cool.  It's not a ranking system or an official promotion; we're just using the collections to say "Hey, we liked this stuff and you might, too."  If you've got collections that you think we'd also like, feel free to let us know.

Thank you for your response Allison, I understand that.

But I think Bdhy and Seppi not, because the collection of Denoall that
yesterday was in the collection at the home page, today was deleted
from it. And I think that the right place to personal collections is
at the Featured Google Earth Modelers collection, which is a long time
ago on the homepage. ;) Or not?

Look I stopped doing what I was doing just to answer this:

I think you have completely misunderstood me, I was just reporting
that fact because I think there was already a place for collections of
modelers, and I think that the collections of the gallery should be
organized. And to continue the organization who have been doing the
google guys, I just warning about the fact, only by the organization
of the 3D Warehouse.
I have nothing against Denoall, in fact I fell very well with him, and
sometimes before I contacted him, so I did just that. Nothing more.
I repeat: It seems you have misinterpreted, I have nothing against
Denoall, nor do I intend to provoke it against him, seems like a good
person like everyone here, and I've only made that comment by the
organization in collections in the 3D Gallery.
Fortunately the Google Guys have correctly understood me or they have
deleted my comment.

reportando aquel hecho porque me parece que ya existia un lugar para

De todas formas creo que se ha debido todo a un error de google.

I believe that the problems of language misrepresents the problem.
Nobody is against or for a personal collection of a modeler.
The purpose was right on the homepage of the 3D image bank, among the thematic collections (Castles, church etc ...) to find a personal collection.

First of all I would like to thank you for all your comments and for
make me famous for a day. This really motivate me to improve my work
especially now when I know how many people are paying attention at
what I am doing.

However I would like to make mention of some things.

Stuart made an interesting mention about my model "Beijing National
Aquatics Center"

I would like to say to Stuart, feel free to improve this model and
any other of mine models, if you think you can do a better model for
this/any building I have not problem with that.I will be the first to
rated if is good.
But all the rest before judging the work of another modeler remember
We do it this for "free"
I know I'm not the best and do not pretend to be, Nor I am interested
to be popular or anything like that. THIS IS JUST A HOBBY FOR ME.

I do not want bored so just tell you be focus on what you are doing
and if someone is trying to be a good modeler. Help him is what I do
when someone asks me for help and that I am "a very poor modeler"
Imagine what you could teach!!!!

Good to know it was a mistake. Yes I do it for a hobby too, it's just
my gripe when a modeller does a half decent attempt which can be
bettered by someone else ( not you ) which I have had to improve on
another modellers work ! Denoall I wish I had the time to improve
everyones model on here, believe me it would take all the time in the
world as perfection in detail is everything.
It goes without saying if anyone spots a model which can be improved
upon it's fair game to us all. As long as you provide Google with
photo evidence which backs up your claim then everyone wins. I always
give credit to the original modeller when improving on their work,
though sadly I know there are some who pass off work as their own when
it's not.
If I'm bored maybe I will improve on that model of yours....someday.
Right now I'm developing an app for the iphone.
