Ha! The Mac is about as dumb as a box of rocks. You can't do shit with the
mac when it comes to customization, system configuration, etc.

oh, you're the same guy that the previous 10 people replied to. You're for
mac. You don't have to be rich to get windows. And there are plenty of
people out there that would consider YOU rich for having a mac. What's up
with the new iMac?? All it can do is like the internet. If I were to get
an internet only machine I wouldn't pay that much for it!

Oh, the great Mac! Nothing like dumping a file on your hard drive. So,
what happens if you don't have enough space? Clipboard is a good thing.
You can pase your image into Paint, Word, Photoshop or whatever program
supports bitmaps. You know, Windows can run many programs that support
bitmaps. Are there any programs running on Mac these days? Ehehehe.

Michael.

Windows 3.x, Windows 9x, and NT 3.51 and up are Y2K compliant if you have
the patches, available as free DLs from Microsoft's website.

As for the Mac's Y2K compliance, look at this article

Look out! The "Linux Defenders" will be knocking on your door at midnight!
<G>

I made my system dual bootable with RH Linux and Win98 a while back
(w/Partition Magic). I'd been hearing so much about how great it was, and
how it was a great OS.

I had to buy a new video card that was supported (bought a cheap Virge, just
to try Linux with), never could get the sound card to work, but that's only
a biggie during games. I muddled through and got my modem configured and got
online with my ISP, etc... I was pretty proud of that, considering that I'd
never seen a Linux or Unix box before. The only help that I had was from a
Linux book I found at the local bookstore.

I kept it around for a couple of months and then deleted it off the HD. I'm
sure its great for the programmers and system admins and such, but it's got
a ways to go before its a true competitor for Windows, for regular computer
users. It's about as user friendly as a pissed off mule, and has no
intuitive feel to it.

It is free, which is a good point in it's favor, and I'm all for any
competition with Msoft. I also salute all the people that have played a part
in it's developement. But is it a replacement for Windows for us regular old
computer users? Nope not yet.

Regards,
Matt K

Yup. Same for me. I fiddled around a lot with it, brought my Voodoo3 to
work, got Internet connection, got angry, cause the 3D accelerator with mesa
and glide doesn't work here. So what's up with that OS ? I mean for us
regular users ? You won't have to pay for it, but after I installed it, I
didn't know what I can do with it. So I learnt lots of it for almost one
year, and in the case I have to deal with it I will already know something
about it. But it is a network system and will remain a network system. Great
for servers or internet, but if you wanna play, then you have to stick to
windows.

Greetings from "root" (always making bzImage :)))))

It really is a bear to get to do what you want it to. But I can honestly
say I learned more about computers in the few months I've played with Linux
than all my years in the DOS/Windows world.

We probably won't be seeing Linux sections at our favorite gaming stores
anytime soon, but it is a great platform for programming. First it comes
with a free (but by no means meager) C/C++ compiler, as well as a hardy set
of libraries. And of course since it is a true multitasking operating
system if you happen to write erroneous code chances are it won't take your
whole system down.
