What kind of framerates are people getting in Quake2?

I have RH6.0, Kernel 2.2.12, Banshee (Fusion), Dev3dfx, running as root,
Mesa3.1b3, 30fps in 640x480 for demo2.dm2.

I'm happy, no problems with mouse input or anything.

My system, Celeron 300, 64 megs ram, RH6.0 Voodoo 2 12mb
@ 640x480
With the 3dfx library, I get about 23
With Mesa 2.6, about 17-20
And IMO don't even try Mesa 3.0 =)

I wish I could say I'm pleased with my framerates, but that would be a
blatant lie. (My Voodoo card has gotten about 60 fps in a different
machine)

You're doing something wrong. I get around 60 under Linux with a
similar system (somewhat better in ways that shouldn't matter).
