The only way to check 100% that I have all the files is to open each one in
turn.
What I need is a PDF viewer that can switch from one file to the next with a
button/arrow on the toolbar - I think Irfanview does that with a list of
image files in one folder, that's exactly what I'd like a PDF viewer to do.
Thanks.
Good luck with your quest.
xpdf is a package for linux. It has several command line utilities that
come with it. There are other such packages as well. Try typing pdf in
the search field at freshmeat.net.Why do you have a problem opening them
otherwise? In other words What *exactly* are you trying to do?

*Good job*, chuckTard!! Recommend a Linux program to a Windows user!
Your RAG needs tuning.

There's no way anyone could ever figure that out, chucktard.

In theory, theory and practice are the same.
In practice they are not.
Yes - I couldn't find anything on the toolbar to sequentially switch files
in the folder.
You never tried Document->Go to next document/Previous document then
obviously. Menus exist for a reason. There's also a key combination to
do it and the manual mentions it as well.

Most people in a.c.f alt.comp.freeware like pdf xchange viewer best of
all. Here are 8 screenshots for it to see if you like it

Well er no - because there isn't one!
Like hell there isn't. Look at the menus again. More closely this time.
I did - its not on the version I downloaded.

You have a *real* problem with manuals don't you?
*sigh* - It's *built* in. Which is *why* I said look at the menus again
(or once is probably more accurate in your case)
Help->reader help

What an asshole.

#1 There is no such thing as "Foxit Pro"
#2 I have it installed and looked, there is no "Help->reader help"
#3 You're a maroon<--
#4 I tried to help the OP too, by trying to find what he wants to do in Foxit
Reader... There is no such feature you insist is there. (arrows to click and
load the next .pdf in the directory)
Please reply to each point, one at a time, disputing the above 4 points if you
disagree. Be sure to reply with PROOF (URL's and screenshots), rather than a
lame insult to the OP. The OP is right, Foxit Reader does not have what you say
it has. You can tell me and him to read manuals all day, it aint there, buckko.
Let's see some screenshots of this feature documented in "the menu system", or
better yet do a screen recording showing him and I exactly how to do it. Upload
the how-to video on YouTube and make a contribution.
Oh, wait.. you won't respond to this. Because it can't be done. Hmmmmmmm??
Somebody better give this one a bump after a day or so if Chucktard doesn't
reply. Want to make sure he gets a chance to see it.

*I* never mentioned Foxit Pro. Get your trolls right. As for the rest, I
don't get into arguments with people who lie.

The link to download it appears to be broken.
Must be at your end. It works. Here's the text from it:
Download Foxit Reader Pro v1.3 July 17, 2006
Foxit Reader Pro 1.3 for Windows
Foxit Reader Pro is the professional version of Foxit Reader, the popular
free PDF reader.
Foxit Reader Pro supports all features the provided in Foxit Reader, and
more:
A rich set of annotation (commenting) tools that allows you to annotate
(comment) on your PDF documents:
Typewriter tool: allows you to type on any place of PDF documents;
Note tool: insert textual comments on any place, with a popup window that
can be opened or closed easily;
Text marking tools: you can highlight, strike-through, underline texts in
your PDF documents;
Graphic marking tools: you can draw lines, shapes, polygons, and any hand-
drawing graphs on your
PDF document, with associated textual comments.
Select and copy text contents from PDF files even when other applications
fail to extract such information;
Convert pages or a whole file to pure text, so you can easily copy and
paste text contents;
A new application:
Foxit Library allows you to manage your PDF files and browse them easily.
Foxit Reader Pro runs on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP/2003.
Here's a copy/paste of the address bar of the page that the download link on
the page goes to:
The web page http://www.downloadbazar.com/archives/001203.php
displays in my browser just fine.
What error are *you* getting? Is there an error when you try to download
the file?
:)

When you try to d/l the file it points to:
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/foxitreader/foxitreader_pro.exe
Which is a 404 error... meaning it aint there.
The webpage text read, "v1.3" for what used to be called "Foxit Professional",
now it's up to version 4.2 and there is no "Pro" version.

The download bazaar place/link you are following is way out of date:
Download Foxit Reader Pro v1.3 July 17, 2006
If you want the FoxIt Reader (not pay Pro, no longer available) go to
the FoxIt website where there is a modern free Reader download, but...
... (most of) the people in alt.comp.freeware much prefer PDF XChange
over FoxIt. Also FoxIt will not do what you want, and if you look at the
link to the XChange screenshots I provided earlier, I think you will see
that PDF XChange will do what you want.
