My mp3 player won't copy mp3 files from my hard drive. It 'does' sometimes,
but mostly it just says "can't copy file" then it say "the mp3 player has
been disconnected", then it shows me it's initial startup screen again
asking if I want to open or play the files. I got so fed up with it that I
bought another player today...'same make and model. Same bloody problem too!
Then I tried it on my USB2 connection which is a PCI Card but works fine
with photos and stuff. My other USB connection is my (aging) PC's mother
board USB1 connection. So, neither USB 1 or 2 make it work, I used different
USB cables as well, even changing the actual player didn't work, I've
uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, it just has me screwed!
The mp3s are my own songs which I wrote and sing/play, so nothing illegal
there. :) I use Win XP Pro SP3.
I just can't think of anything else.

Its a peice of junk:

YG

Read the reveiws. THey break easily
Its possibly a DRM issue with windows XP since SP-3 was just a load of
that.

Good luck. I'd suggest you use VLC to do your music related listening
playing and save your files in .ogg format from now on.

Yeah, I had a feeling it might be something along those lines as the files
themselves were the only things left to suspect, and the ogg option is a
good idea too.

Could anyone advise a reliable mp3 player which doesn't cost the earth? I
don't want video capability as I just want to listen to music. :) Video
drains battery power.

Yes, two different players, both the same model. Same problem. I've tried my

Just managed to copy a Miley Cyrus FLV from youtube to the player. It
worked, but windows said the player had disconnected itself after app., 10
secs, so I thought the file wouldn't have time to copy (USB1.1).
So, now I have a FLV which I can't watch :) And the player won't let me
delete it as windows says it can't find the player.
It just keeps disconnecting/reconnecting...'as if it was a loose connection,
but it's not. I've checked this. I've used two different cables, one brand
new. I also used the USB 1 port, 'and' the USB 2 port. Same issues with both
players.

Weird?

Then you know it's not the hardware. Quite possibly the driver or perhaps
something is slowing or interferring with it's proper operation?

Have you tried physically removing it's drivers from device manager and
rebooting so that clean drivers get installed?

You really either are completely clueless about "windows" whatever OS
*that* is or you've just devolved into a completely troll. In either case
any opinion you have on this problem has been clearly demonstrated to be
completely useless as you can't even come up with something to troubleshoot
the problem. All you're doing is making random guesses. That will get the
OP nowhere.

Again, you are clearly clueless in such matters are only trying to not
allow anyone else to fix his problem. Which will *not* be fixed by you in
any way BTW.

And what's worse, your deliberate lying and distortions of the truth in
*whatever* you're talking about above. I notice you're too cowardly to provide
message-ids for those "examples" yet again. Clearly for fear that would demonstrate
just how badly you are lying.

If you can find somwon with a Apple computer to let you try to move

So solly.
Won More Thing...SanDisk based usb flashdrives need *drivers* for
them to be able to talk to w98...but not XP. Maybe your player needs
a new driver?

No, but if you install Opera instead of using that piece of shit
IE/OE, it will save all flv files in its cache directory, you
just have to rename them and give them the flv extension. Then
you can either convert or whatever for it to play on your player
- I know nothing about them and wouldn't own one if someone gave
me one along with a brand new Ferrari.

YeeHaa! Sorted it! :))

I followed the instructions here :-
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12426

Originally, the player showed up in device manager as a 'media player', but
now it shows up as a usb device!

I just copied all my mp3s over to it using drag 'n drop, no probs.

Thanks for hanging with me on this one.

I need a drink! :)

Player did come with a manual, but totally useless and no website even
mentioned.

I did track down the maker's site but they have no mention of any mp3
players they made in the past.

It's entirely possible that it's going into a form of "sleep" mode after a
couple of minutes to save battery power. Some digital cameras and
camcorders to exactly that. My father has a Sony that does it inside of 2
minutes.
