I have been given some cd's to try and see if there is any personal
information on them belonging to a friends late husband.
I have a cd that has a palm folder. Clearly he has synced his palm
pilot to his computer.
Any ideas how I can read/access these files (such as mail) WITHOUT
having a palm pilot. (his old one is missing).
Thanks!
There is some information on the file formats here:

If I remember correctly, there was an application suite on the PC side
that would let you read the contents of standard app data files, or at
least convert them to more popular formats. That would probably be a start.
Finding a PalmOS community would also be a good idea.
If you open the email in any text editor
it's possible the text will be readable
though of course all formatting would be lost.
It would take just a few seconds to try
Not finding his Palm would be something the lawyer handling his estate
should be immediately informed of.

Writing conversion scripts with perl is also possible, but may
not be an option.

In theory, theory and practice are the same.
In practice they are not.

ChuckNonSequitur strikes again.
Q: How can I access the Palm files?
A: Tell his lawyer you can't find the Palm.

What are names of the files? Do you have DAT files, PDB files, or
something else?
I'm not sure, but possibly the Palm Desktop software might give access
to those files. It's free, so you aren't out anything for trying it.

That's what I use for my Palm Centro smartphone. It appears that this
software covers all Palm units.
