Everytime I boot my computer, right before finishing boot sequence, I get a
message on the desk top saying "window explorer has stop responding" than
another window comes up saying " window explorer is restarting"
Why and how could I stop that?
Windows 7 Ultimate, 2GB memory

I have seen that problem a few times on Windows 7. There are many
"theories" about the problem but I have yet to see a solution.
Restarting windows explorer always recovers.

Do a system restore to a date prior to this error.

"window explorer has stop responding" and "window explorer is
restarting" does not equal "slow to boot." A system restore would be the
first obvious choice.

That's your department, bucko.

I had this problem some time ago, and doing a system restore did not help.
explorer kept stopping and restarting ad infinitum ..
eventually i traced it to some so called complete 'video codec pack'.
it was also causing explorer to crash whenever i opened folders that had
files that the codec pack was supposed to work with ..
uninstalled that 'pack', all those problems solved ..

Maybe if you had restored back prior to installing the codec pack?

Point being Windoze isn't the best OS for the average Joe to debug app
hangs especially seeing this was the desktop environment app. Best to try
to keep track of what you have installed (well try to at least) and set
restore points before you install stuff.

Especially if it's an Apple machine.

Except this is *just* as windows is starting, so clearly it's something
(or several things) in startup.
