Can I stop sent newsgroup messages from being saved in the sent folder? Im tired of going thru them and weeding out the news and deleting.

That will also stop outgoing mail from being saved! I want to save sent mail, just not sent newsgroup posts

Why should I go thru the hassle?

Look, I have Thunderbird, but If I leave it open it NEVER checks for new mail! I have to keep clicking "GET NEW MAIL". Plus I hate configuring things for spam. I have a spam blocker for OE.

You do know you can set TB to check for new messages at an interval you set right? Under account settings -> server settings.

===Boilerplate===
You can probably access this public Usenet newsgroup directly with some fine news client like slrn or pan or knode or others [1], rather than some clunky web interface, unless, say, you're at firewalled at work and IT hasn't favorably responded to your request for Usenet (NNTP) capability. Do yourself and the rest of Usenet a favor: check out your options and take control of your own Usenet experience. And learn Usenet conventions and courtesies -- things you won't learn using some clunky web gateway.
[1]Even with a piece of crap you might already have, like Outlook Express, which, as bad as it is, still beats web interfaces for this activity that wasn't meant for webification.

Go read the results of this thread^1 the first time you posted these messages.
You are now posting 'regurgitations' of your previous messages in the thread of which these don't show the references lines in the headers which would be there for the replies if they weren't coming about by some strange mechanism of reposting your old messages.

I guess this is because he's posting through "JLA Forums". These people are even more weaselish than the regular web interfaces that 'carry' the newsgroup. It's not mentioned by name, or even identified as a Usenet group. 24hrsupport.helpdesk is simply labled "General Technical Support", as though it's a service provided by these assholes. -- Nervy douchebags.

tools>options>send and unclick save sent messages in sent folder.
then go down load OE quote fix,its a quick down load that will alleviate people giving you crap about using OE and it will show emoticons for you.

I don't have the whole picture.
Previously ~ Jul 31 those posts were coming from a comcast user in/near Harristown PA via OE and comcast news. eg 68.80.200.48 rDNS pcp08545298pcs.norstn01.pa.comcast.net
Currently those 'samely' edited including cites and sigs are coming from a RR user in/near Raleigh NC via the RR newsserver and an agent saying newsSync JLA forums which is at http://www.jlaforums.com/viewforum.php?f=62 eg 71.65.228.39 rDNS cpe-071-065-228-039.nc.res.rr.com

Ah, so. Things are clearing up. A RR user IP typically isn't a 'cpe' - which is usually 'customer provided equipment' or similar concept indicating something other than home enduser.
jlaforums.com DNS 71.65.228.39 rDNS cpe-071-065-228-039.nc.res.rr.com
So, postings to the JLA forum enter into the nntp propagation via the RR newsserver running highwinds software twister in the southeastern.rr.com family and the headers are stamped with the forum software User-Agent: newsSync (JLA FORUMS)

... from a registrant to the JLA forums who sez s/he is from 'Philaburbia', and the posts to JLA are injected into the NNTP propagation by the IP of jlaforums.com which is 71.65.228.39 -- so that the propagation from the forum appears to be...

You can't derive the IP address of the registrant posting to the JLA forums from the forum post itself.
Mike Easter wrote: >> Currently those 'samely' edited including cites and sigs are coming >> from
What is going on is that the 'regurgitation' is being caused by the JLA forums 'all by itself'. That is, the OP posted the originals to the comcast newsserver via hir OE newsagent back on July 31 and it did 'normal' NNTP propagation. That thread also made it to the JLA forums which carries this usenet nntp newsgroup.
The JLA forums is now 'posting' the preesi items [but not others in the thread] all over again, as 'independent' posts, lacking any References whch the original newsitems reflected. The forums say that preesi is a registrant there since 2005 Apr.
This is yet another 'hazard' to the inappropriate and 'bastard' commingling of webforum 'usenet thieves' and nntp newsgroup discussions.
