A well-known nursery rhyme, long pre-dating Mrs Christie's novel, but
fallen out of fashion since the '60s and "political correctness".
This version is from Cole's Funny Picture Book No. 1, Written And
Compiled By E.W. Cole (1832-1918) First Published 1879 By Cole
Publications, Melbourne, Australia.

Was it his owrk that changed the acceptance of the word? No it was not.
That work was done by Malcolm X and a few of his followers, along with the
original Black Panther Party. X was also the one who got "African-American"
to be the new replacement for nigger.
Today, the word is acceptable only between or within the black society.
It is only racist when a white man speaks.

It can be a joke in mixed groups. I worked for years in a racially
mixed group. I was often called wigger and I replied "yes nigger". We
got on very well.
