Can you purchase XP when retails stores open in the morning of the 25th?
Microsoft has a countdown clock but the clock is way off by about 6 hours.

Why take a chance? Grab a thermos of coffee and park yourself
immeidately at the front door of some big computer store. The first
copies of a new O/S are always the best.

Serious question here. Why would you want to buy XP? It is bloated, it is
slow and it's a hardware hog. Windows 2k is arguably the last best version
of Windows we will see.

XP, in addition to its other faults, is also a privacy nightmare. Get ready
to sign up with MS's notoriously insecure Passport site and put your trust
in the hands of Gates and company. I do not advise anyone to buy or
downgrade to XP. I'd convert to Linux before I'd load XP on my machine.

hehe, I just checked it seems here, and I even used IE 5, the clock off
15 hours.

The only part that was opinion was the part where I said I would load Linux

Heh, my website is maintained [kept online and working] by a Russian
Firm. It's in NJ usa on a Unix system but the daily maintenance is done
by people on the other side of the planet.

Again, I am afraid that is YOUR opinion and not the opinions of EVERYONE
else...

Windows 2000 is a BUSINESS operating system, where XP is home user and
business user. Why would I install a business operating system on my home
pc???

I mean get with it.

Windows 2000 may be a business OS but I have it running on 2 computers in my
home and wouldn't think about running anything else that microsoft puts out
on them. They are both stable and have been running for days without a
reboot. I run servers on both of them so can't afford to be shutting them
down every 8 hours like you'd need to with win9x to keep them stable. I know
alot of other people like myself that use win2k because it is more stable
then the 9x line so why not run it?

Back in 1995 I saw a MS memo that in part listed some long range [5
year] company goals. One of their goals was to get a piece of every
online commerce transaction. Central to that vision is Passport, where
MS will get a % of every transaction that goes through that system. MS
will most likely be teaming up with every large retailer who will
require you to use your Passport info to make a purchase.

Perhaps Big Brother wants to dominate world commerce as well?
