Hoaxers: Antarctic Ice Is Expanding Because It Is Melting
Among the more terrifying aspects of the Global Warming Apocalypse foretold
by Al Gore is the rising of the seas, caused by melting polar ice caps,
caused in turn by mankind raising the temperature by engaging in
under-regulated economic activity. Yet Antarctic sea ice has been expanding
by 1.9% per decade for the past 30 years. No worries; the experts have an
explanation:
Climate change is expanding Antarctica's sea ice, according to a
scientific study in the journal Nature Geoscience.
The paradoxical phenomenon is thought to be caused by relatively cold
plumes of fresh water derived from melting beneath the Antarctic ice
shelves.
That is, the ice is expanding because it is melting.
Okay, that one didn't pass the laugh test. Let's try another theory:
Paul Holland of the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) stuck to his findings
last year that a shift in winds linked to climate change was blowing ice
away from the coast, allowing exposed water in some areas to freeze and make
yet more ice.
What, still laughing?
Meanwhile, global warming profiteer James Hansen claims that the reason it
isn't getting any warmer is that emissions cool the planet, countering the
warming caused by increased emissions.
It might be less embarrassing for them to switch the game plan back to
global cooling, which is more in tune with current climate fluctuation and
much scarier anyway.
