I have used a ricoh LD328 with "scan to email" facility.
Small/single page scans arrive as expected, ie, as an email with a .pdf
attachment which is the scanned document(s).
However a larger multiple page scan produces 2 emails arriving in the
recipient's inbox, both with a partial email message attachment in an
unrecognised format.
How might I recombine the two parts to form the final .pdf file?
The is a setting in the machine to force the machine not to split into
smaller files if a preset limit is reached, but I no longer have the
original document to re-scan, so this is not an option.
Thanks!
Rob.

Hi,
Thanks for quick reply. Unfortunately they are not .pdf files.
They are both shown as the filename: ATT000001.dat ATT000002.dat
If Ricoh designed these to be split above a certain file size (in this
case the default of 2Mb) I don't know why they can't make it more
straightforward to recombine them back into a .pdf file!
Thanks!
If you right click on the message(s) do you see a 'Combine and Decode'
entry?
If so, highlight the various parts, put them in order and the Combine and
Decode them.

Hjsplit. A simple web search should locate it for you. Then once you've
got it, rename the first file to: ATT000001.dat.001 and the second to
ATT000001.dat.002 ann run hjsplit, click on joint, double click on the
first name above, select join. You will end up with a file called:
ATT00001.dat. Change the extension to pdf and double click it.

I think you've clicked on too many joints in your lifetime, chuckie...

Hi,
Thanks for the helpful replies.
I did try using HJsplit, and I can see from the file size that it has
indeed joined the 2 files together. I renamed it as a .pdf file, but when
I try and open it I get an error along the lines of not a supported file
or file damaged.
Guess I'll have to get hold of the original and re-scan it.
Thanks anyway guys, do appreciate you taking the time to assist.

Have you tried just opening one or the other of the two parts with adobe
to see what happens? hjsplit *will* work if the file is sliced in two, If
however the file is split into two pdf files covering the first and second
half of the original document, it certainly would *not* work.
RTFM perhaps.
