Easiest way is to format your hard drive.

The Microsoft community for Windows 7 is found at:

My old trick was to find the folder it's in and rename the folder.
Like 'messenger' becomes 'xmessenger'.
Now the program can't be found so windows assumes it's not there.

That little trick worked on windows 95, 98se, me and even on xp.
WM is NOT part of the operating system. It is a standalone program.
If one would bother to look in the help files, they might just learn how to
turn the damn thing off.
9 times out of 10, dan c always replies with "reformat" regardless.
he's a bigger idiot than I am.
So you admit you're an idiot, eh? (Not that anyone
needed confirmation.)

Start->run ->msconfig <enter>
And you should see an option to disable all startup there. It may affect
some things such as open session CD's, but windows itself has no problem
running with all of them disabled.

Aside from the option to choose which ones you want running - which the
OP didn't want, that is identical to what I said.
How come you didn't check the Microsoft web site? There's some very bad
advice out there on some web sites and Microsoft would be the first
place to check for such things.
Yes
(Windows v9.57- December 1, 2009)

msconfig is not precisely the same thing
you must use selective startup after making changes

Because you don't know obviously.

Yes it is.

Yes he does. He just doesn't know it. Less programs running means more
processor power available for the user. None means all of it.

Both actually.

We already knew *that*.
