Hi All
What is your opinion on the plethora of industries which appear to
have sprung out of the 2012 phenomena such as survival aids, books,
videos etc?
Of course, 2012 isn't the first time this has happened. People made
fortunes out of the fear that all the computers in the world would
shut down, the world would come to an end etc. Presumably they are now
happily counting their money somewhere.
Personally, I could not live with myself if I was making money out of
other people's fears and hopes, but perhaps some people out their view
it as a perfectly reasonable activity.
Hi JackieHave you seen all the movies out these days that have the world ending in them. I can name hundreds. I think that they just make people more scared and that also helps to boost sales of all the 2012 stuff. I think that when the real evidence shows up about what will happen they people who are making money are also making everyone more skeptical about what will happen. When you discover the things you buy are all probably just make you more worried and then you realize you have been charged for something that probably wont help, your mind automatically goes "oh this must be a scam" and you become a skeptic. Just some thoughts, Dannie/Athosiana

I have a huge problem with modern-day authors publishing scientific inaccuracies for personal gain. I object to publications of those authors who can predict the future by stringing a bunch of pseudo-scientific nonsense to prove the planet is in peril.
After studying the matter in detail, I am convinced that whole issue is a fabricated one and is tantamount to possible hoax.

Dear friend, Jackie, i'm embarrassed to admit I WASN'T AWARE OF THE "PLETHORA" of industries
incited into being by the 2012 phenomnon. but it is not surprising and i've seen many other movements in the past stimulate folks into selling, or giving away all of their possessions and gather on hilltops, etc. It is obvious that something is taking place in the world causing changes which perhaps gives liscence to all restless souls. I know the photos of police members & revellers being shown on T.V. now looks very much like SODOM & Gomorrah, . My soul & remnant of life is dedicated to GOD, SO I HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR PERSONALLY, BUT I AM AFRAID FOR MY MANY HOSTAGES TO FORTUNE. YOURS, Dee
Lewis. you obviously are a lady of high moral standards, capable of making commitments and if you ever feel you can count me as your friend, you'll send mt your photo-liktness.i've already created an image of you in my imagination. Dark hair & brown eyes, 5' tall, an appealing face and a hard-to-detect vulnerability. my very first "best girlfriend "Jackie" was a girl 7 when I was 6, when we moved across the street from her. SHE HAD AS MANY FRECKLES AS I DID AND WE SPENT MANY LONG HOURS & YEARS TOGETHER JUST HAVING SILLY FUN. I REMEMBER ONCE WRAPPING HER DAD'S ARMY BELT AROUND THE TWO OF US TOGETHER, TWO OR THREE TIMES. & LURCHING ALL OVER THE NEIGHBORHOOD IN OUR ATTEMPTS TO WALK LAUGHING OUR HEADS OFF. I and my family eventually moved away with my dad's job opportunities, and when we came home 2 or 3 years later, we were different people and I was the only one interested in renewing our friendship. her dad was a dealer for Watkins Products. and our country was just trying to come out of our "big depression." and I was aware that Pres. Roosevelt was our savior. I think that must have been my first heartbreak, but i stayed on there for the next
break by a first boyfriend at age 17. Well, this can't interest anyone, not even me. So much for ancient history.
and "romance"! yours, Dee Dorothy.

How extremely interesting, Writing a "book" has been my lifelong ambition i once had a correspondence with my favorite author John D. maCDONALD WHO LIVED IN
Florida at the time., He sent me a copy of his autobiography once, but has been dead for many years now. I had a hard time arriving at a suitable subject although i'd trained myself all my life in the skills necessary to writing. But I'd vowed not to
generate any moe sad, unhappy, unworthy

I find it difficult to negate the whole Nibaru issue.. I have read Sitchins work and also "Slave Species of 'god' " by Michael Tellinger.. I feel that the transcripts from the ancient tablets are difficult to refute and cannot be ruled out... there is too much smoke for there to be no fire ! There is too much pointing to 2012.. ~

Dear Dwija, I hope you don't mind my asking about the predictions these "hoax-artists
are making, generally or specifically? since not much reaches me in my back-water here.
I didn't know many have suggested we're in peril. i've heard of the "new planet Nibiru,
Of course over the years, i've heard occasional "Oh woe is us" alarms from oddballs who must want the attention. But any real threat would be heralded by scientists like yourself
and my sons, I think the social problems we face now will be enough to keep us busy
thankyou, Dee Lewis.

Ad hominem - attacking the arguer and not the argument-common fallacy of logic and rhetoric w.r.t. baloney detection.
I was tempted to respond you mr Jefrois like this “ My opinion is my opinion, that’s the end of the story. Whether you will keep your mouth shut or be vocal while waiting for the doomsday with anxiety ..is your business and not mine”, but I am restraining.
Surprisingly doomsday Sayers are banking on some distorted view of a section of Scientific community to refute what is widely accepted in scientific community. Whom should we impart importance to ? Scientific community or people outside scientific community ? This fundamental approach is necessary before we are able rationally judge anything. Scientific community advocates to spin more than one hypothesis, not anything with dogmatic determinism. If there is a chain of argument every link in the chain must work- a fundamental in scietntific approach, we all know that.
Because of paucity of time and my other priorities, it is not possible for me to defend each and every aspect of my argument in this mail . However let me at least elaborate one issue i.e Nibiru. This planet, if the prediction is correct, should have been so close to Earth which would be easily visible to the naked eye. Jupiter and Saturn are both visible to the naked eye, and are dimmer than Nibiru would be at their distances and would be creating noticeable effects in the orbits of the outer planets. This view was voiced by great Astronomer Phil Plait. Astronomer Mike Brown notes that if this object's orbit were as described, it would only have lasted in the Solar System for a million years or so before Jupiter expelled it. Brown also states that there is no way another object's magnetic field could have such an effect on Earth. Lieder claims that this object is the same Nibiru or planet x, once searched for by astronomers to account for discrepancies in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune. However, in 1992 astronomer Myles Standish showed that these discrepancies were illusory, and today almost all astronomers accept that Planet X does not exist.
Another claim made by proponents of the idea is that Nibiru is identical with Nemesis, the hypothetical brown or red dwarf companion to the Sun proposed by Richard A. Muller to explain a purported regularity in mass extinctions observed in the fossil record. He claimed that, as the object passed through the cometary Oort cloud every few million years, its gravity would perturb the orbits of those distant objects, causing a swarm of comets to enter the inner Solar System, leading to a higher probability of a major impact which would trigger a mass extinction. However, Nemesis, if it exists, would have an orbit thousands of times longer than that proposed for Nibiru, and would never itself come anywhere near Earth.
Zecharia Sitchin himself has criticized this doomsday scenario's association with his planet Nibiru. In 2007, partly in response to Lieder's claims, he published a book, The End of Days, which set the time for the last passing of Nibiru by Earth at roughly 600 BC, which would mean it would be unlikely to return in less than 1000 years.
Many believers in the imminent approach of Planet X/Nibiru/Wormwood claim that NASA is deliberately covering up visual evidence of its existence.. One such accusation involves the IRAS infrared space observatory, launched in 1983. The satellite briefly made headlines due to an "unknown object" that was at first described as "possibly as large as the giant planet Jupiter and possibly so close to Earth that it would be part of this Solar System. This newspaper article has been cited by proponents of the collision idea, beginning with Leider herself, as evidence for the existence of Nibiru. However, further analysis revealed that of several unidentified objects, nine were distant galaxies and the tenth was "intergalactic cirrus"; none were found to be Solar System bodies.
Another claim frequently made by websites predicting the collision is that the US government built the South Pole Telescope to track Nibiru's trajectory. David Morrison, a scientist at NASA's Ames Research Center, ripostes that a radio telescope is not an optical instrument. It cannot take images or photos. It was built at the South Pole to take advantage of the extremely low humidity; in many ways the South Pole is the best observing site on Earth for millimeter wave radio astronomy. I should add that it is impossible to imagine a geometry in which an object can be seen only from the South Pole.
Many collision proponents claim that scientists have openly admitted to Nibiru's existence, and that they refer to it as Eris. However, as Morrison notes, Eris is a dwarf planet only slightly larger than Pluto with a well-determined orbit that never takes it closer than 5.5 billion km from the Earth.. Mike Brown, who discovered Eris refuted any slightest possibility of Nibiru.
Finally, let’s talk about the most recent scientific analysis of Solar system in network of super computers. Result shows Solar system will remain stable for next 1.5 billion years. After that there can be a possibility of planetary collision- a good news for doomsday predictors.

DG

Okay, I see your argument for refuting Nibaru and I must say that although I am not convinced of it's non-existence, let's put that away for now.. perhaps the whole time line is incorrect or something happened to the planet on it's outer orbit ...?? !
I would like to know if you.. or anyone else in the group .. have gathered information about the planetary alignment which is supposed to happen 21/21/2012? The way I understand it is that all the planets will be aligned and that the sun will be sitting exactly in the centre of the Milky Way? Does anyone have further info refuting or confirming this?

I can't take credit for this...I found this article posted on the
internet.
"There will be no effects from any such alignment. First, the
"alignment" of the planets is just a few of the planets coming close
to lining up on the same side of the Sun, without any significant
anticipated gravitational effects. And the galactic alignment, which
usually refers to the winter solstice sun aligning with the galactic
equator, actually already happened.
A lot of this doomsday speculation centering on 2012 has come about
because 2012 is when the current baktun of the Mayan calendar ends. A
baktun is a 400 year period, and we are in the twelfth baktun. It is
true that the Mayan calendar effectively ends on December 21, 2012,
because for whatever reason the Mayans didn't extend the calendar
beyond the end of the twelfth baktun. This doesn't mean that the
Mayans believed the world would end at that point. I mean, during the
20th century, the civilized world created a computer timekeeping
system that was incapable of recognizing dates beyond December 31,
1999. It doesn't mean we thought the world was going to end that day!
Maybe the Mayans would have extended the calendar centuries ago if
their civilization hadn't collapsed. And even if the Mayans did
believe the world would end in 2012, that doesn't mean it actually
will. Remember, every predicted date for the end of the world so far
has been wrong! In any event, the termination of the Mayan "long
count" calendar on December 21, 2012, is the main reason why that year
has been singled out as the supposed date of the apocalypse."

So...we should do what? All shut up because you have an opinion?
Because of your "studying the matter in detail?"
Give some examples of this "possible hoax."
Show me, "in detail," Skippy.
