Shouldn't No Doubt be in there? I know he was in a video of theres but
I also thought he participated in a song or 2 with them...

One of the reasons I posted this list is because if I left something
out in error somebody on here might remind me. Terry did perform
Gangsters with No Doubt some time ago but it was never offically
released so I didn't include it. I know Terry appeared in No Doubt's
Sunday Morning Promo & they appeared in Terry's Ballad of a landlord
Promo so I suppose they did work together so I will update my list
soon.

Thanks

Hi Paul

He's also on the Toots And The Maytals album on one track from a few years
back. I never listen to it as I can't hear him in the mix.

He's on a Tricky b side called Slick 66. It it appears on a pumpkin coloured
12" single, which may also be called pumpkin!

He's on loads more Lightning Seeds stuff (I'm sure you know this) both as
vocalist and sometimes as songwriter. His singing on tracks isn't controlled
by whether he is a writer. I had a list somewhere and will try to dig it
out.

He also collaborated as a songwriter on Ian Broudie's Smoke Rings single and
it was on the album Tales Told. Can't recall if he sings too.

Amazon emailed me telling me the Shakespears Sister CD has been delayed. I
can't recall if your new date matches what they told me..

This is all off the top of my head. If you'd like me to check, then I'll add
it to the list of things I'll get round to doing one day when I'm not on the
phone to Toshiba about my broken telly!!!!

Cheers

Thanks I forgot about that Toot's track "Never Grow Old" or maybe it's
me that's getting old I don't know. I have slick 66 on 12" and Iv'e
herd it a few times but I can't hear Terry anywhere on it so I'm going
to leave it off my list for now. I know Terry worked with Ian Broudie
on various songs but I'm only using the ones Terry can be herd singing
on even if it's only backing vocals. that's a pity about Shakespears
sister but at least we have something to look forward to even if we
have to wait a bit longer.

You can definitely hear Terry on Slick 66. He doubles Tricky's vocal on
several of the lines. He sounds like he's on a megaphone with the volume
turned down. It's a spoken vocal. Once you realise how much he is on it
you'll definitely want it on your list, I think!

Have you got a record player? I ask because I've only just got one of those
USB ones so I can play vinyl for the first time in about a decade! I've
ripped a decent quality MP3 off the 12" and removed most of the crackle from
it. As I know you've already bought the record I don't mind sending the MP3
to you, but I haven't got one of those rapidshare accounts.

The Toots thing is one of very few Terry collaborations that I've not tried
to get on loads of formats. I have a couple. When I get bored one night with
my insomnia I'll no doubt empty my wallet pointlessly ordering some more.
That's usually how it works.

I have so much Silent Poets stuff I really should be a fan of theirs and not
just of Sugar Man! Still want the 12" of Hiroshi Fujiwara's Getting Over You
though!

Re Shakespears Sister, I'm confused now. Despite what Amazon say in their
email, they still have it listed as being released on November 16.

"Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by
the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date
based on the new release date:

Shakespears Sister "Songs Fromred Room"
Estimated arrival date: November 19 2009 - November 23 2009"

Mind you the price has dropped since I pre-ordered it, so it's not all bad!

Speaking of things to look forward to:

The Specials 7 November, Margate. Less than a fortnight away now! I've not
even noticed when the tour actually starts..

Thank Paul

I found Slick 66 on youtube and your right I can hear Terry very
slightly in the background so I will now add it to my list. I also
have one of those USB record & Tape decks but I hardly use it because
I already have most if not all of my collection on CD. I collected
about 7 versions of Sugarman on Different formats since I first herd
about it a few years ago. thanks for the Mp3 offer but I can download
from youtube or use my USB Turntable. only 19 days left for me
regarding going to see The Specials again for my 5th time and I'm also
looking forward to catching Roddy too. I got hold of the 12 Track
Peaches promo cd a while ago and there one or two Interesting versions
using Terry's vocal and I got a version of Running from my thoughts
with the same feel.

I only ever saw that promo on eBay once. It's one I look for every now and
then.

I'm not sure how many Sugar Mans I've got on the album To Come and Another
Version and Remixes, but for ages I had the original EP on CD. I recently
got a decent promo of that CD with different artwork and packaging and 2 12"
singles of it, part 1 and part 2.

I don't think Slick 66 is available anywhere other than that 12". That's why
I made the mp3. The vinyl is really crackly, but I've managed to remove some
of the noise without removing too much of the music.

The other notable things I don't have full collections of are the various
formats for L'il Dub Chefin. I still need the vinyl LP and a few import CDs.
At the time I thought the single, promos and two versions of the album CD
and a promo were enough!

Incidentally are you only interested in who sang with Terry, because
otherwise you might want to add Lee Kix Thompson who is on sax on Hey Little
Rich Girl ;-)

Cheers

The Version on Youtube is perfect regarding sound Quality and on the
same subject Slick 66 in now available on a 2 CD I wonder if Terry is
featured on any of the other tracks on Disc 2 ?

http://www.play.com/Music/CD/-/11/36/-/11828632/Maxinquaye/Product.html?searchtype=genre

Generally I only buy Terry Hall Releases on one format unless there is
a different version and I don't buy the Vinyl unless Terry is on the
cover or the track is unavailable elsewhere. regarding Lee Thompson I
think that's taking it a bit far I already thought I was pushing it
using Chrissie Hynde & Rhoda. who's next Paul Heskett from the
swinging cats Ha Ha.

Cheers for that link. I will definitely be buying that CD. 1) because the
original was a masterpiece; 2) Slick 66; 3) One of the tracks on the album
samples The Specials (Dawning Of A New Era from memory).

More money to spend....

Damn, wish I hadn't gone looking for that sample, ended up here:
http://www.moon-palace.de/tricky/samples.html Looks like Tricky has sampled
The Specials/AKA at least 3 times.

Are old issues of Zoot fanzine worth anything?

I have a few copies of issue 10, with a free poster. Id be willing to let
them go to forum members for shipping plus a couple bucks. Anyone
interested?
