I made a best offer on the Vegas album, but it was turned down and they made
me a counter offer. Quite frankly I don't think I can justify the reduced
price they have said they will sell it for, as it would still almost
certainly be the most expensive Terry Hall item I've bought. I suppose I
could balance it against being lucky/smart enough to buy the American and
Japanese versions of the Virgins And Philistines CD when they were released
so I paid a hell of a lot less than collectors pay for them these days.
You are lucky not to have got in a bidding war on your Vegas LP. For ages I
had the eBay emails with everything new including the words Terry Hall in
the description and checked the search thoroughly. I bet it was when I was
in hospital!
I found the Goodbye Sun Valley 7" on
netsoundsmusic.com a couple of weeks
ago. I'd never heard of it until then, so snapped it up, even though it was
a bit pricey. At the same time I also got two 7" promos of Can't Get Enough
Of You Baby. One is American, the other Canadian. Cruel Circus is on the B
side and at least one of them is still in stock if you need/want it. They
have different labels as the Canadian one is not cut out.
Probably my biggest regret is selling my 2Tone a Checkered Past CD set a
couple of years back when skint. I've not seen another one on sale for ages.
Bits and bobs I'll get round to getting eventually are a few different
versions of that Toots And The Maytals LP he's on and the Sinead O'Connor
Collaborations album, which we all needed to get the duet version of Monkey
In Winter on it.
Have you got any mispressings? I have 2. The first is really boring, it is
the Terry Hall Collection CD, but actually plays some classical music. The
other is far more interesting to me, and I've only just got round to getting
the single without the mispressing. I have a copy of Take which has the
labels for The Colour Field and Sorry. When I got it (all those years ago) I
was going to return it to the shop and tell them they'd put the wrong record
in the sleeve, but I played it instead and realised I'd got myself a nice
little rarity.
I am going to try to update my list of Terry Hall records (I haven't for 10
years!) so I can have an idea of what I actually own and try to work out
what is still out there waiting to be found.
Cheers.
