Is it just me that's wondering what happened to this:

"NEXT MONTH: The 2Tone Legacy and the Ska Revival"

I've spent as long as I feel reasonable standing in WH Smiths looking through the July issue and can't find anything approaching the feature described above.

If I've missed it, could someone give me a page number so I can go have another look and see if it's worth buying?

thanks

At the moment I can't even find the July issue. RC mag usually plug
such articles on the front cover, but maybe it didn’t make it into
this issue.

The writer John Reed, hinted to me that he hoped they would print 'most' of what he wrote for that follow up article, so maybe he had his suspicions that they wouldn't run with it...

I can recall him saying that. I wonder if RC thought that one article
was enough to cover it? Bit of a shame of they did.

Cheers Wally/Jason

Whatever Record Collector's reasons and whatever the writer included in his
second article copy there clearly was a massive legacy.

If it has been held over it is likely to be delayed indefinitely now. I
would imagine Record Collector will dedicate many pages to Michael Jackson,
throwing their current publishing schedule totally out.

If john Reed discovers it is not going to be printed is there any chance you
could ask him for permission to publish it on the site or as a message on
this forum please? It seems to me an awful waste of someone's work if it is
never published and, let's face it, we are amongst the ones who have more
than a passing interest in it. Hopefully Record Collector don't guard the
intellectual property of the articles they receive but don't publish.

Thanks

I think it is close to selling out as it has a big Bowie feature on the
front cover. I think the copy I looked at on Monday was the last one in my
local Smiths.

It's always been a pretty good read, but I prefer not to spend £4 or £5 on
the monthlies unless they have a big feature on someone I like. With RC
chances are there will be articles of interest as we're interested in rare
records. With Q etc. I couldn't give a toss what U2 or Coldplay are up to or
have to say! Let's face it how many band interviews are really that
interesting if you don't like the band?

Cheers

Managed to track down a copy in a news agents at lunch time today.
Like yourself I give it a miss unless there is something which I have
a particular interest (which if it is not 2 Tone it's either The Sex
Pistols or The Smiths) . The huge article on AC/DC didn't really
float my boat in this months issue so it was promptly set back on the
shelf.

Had the article about Kev 'Al' Archer's album been a bit longer I might have
bought it.

The Dammers issue was excellent though, with The Blockheads feature. I also
read The Smiths article with interest as it was about lost recordings and
rejected cover art, the sort of thing that floats those of us who like 2Tone
and/or Stiff Records.

I can't remember the last time I bought an issue prior to the Dammers one.
At least I'll be checking it every now and again.

Cheers
