Madness 30th Anniversary tribute Album
When I bought my
first Madness single 30 years ago, I never thought I’d get so
passionate about
that English band. Since my early
youth Madness have always had a
special place in my heart. This band is a bit like the “big brother” I
never
had, they helped me get through the difficult times in my life and they
made my
life even more joyful during the good times. I really felt like
offering them a
special present for their thirtieth anniversary, trying to give them
back (as
far as I humbly can!) a little bit of all the happiness they gave me
during all
these years. My first idea was to release a remix album and send one to
each
member of the band, when Jérôme Lanvin (of Big 8 Records) suggested
that I
should work on a Madness Tribute album, as Chief Editor for the French
MIS (the
Madness French-speaking fan club website) and stand as a bit of a
guarantor of
the quality of the selected songs. The adventure started in April 2008
and we
are happy to present today the fruit of our labour and especially the
quality of
the work made by the artists who got involved in this project. I‘d like
to
thank all the bands who took part in that adventure and all the fan
club members
who also wished to be part of the project (MIS Online, Madness Central,
Madness
Trading Ring, and French MIS). I
also want to thank you, the ones who buy this record, because thanks to
that
very simple act, you’ll make that CD financially feasible, and so that
all the
independent artists’ efforts would
have been worthwhile. Enjoy it!
