I am ignorant about much of this. but I would really appreciate some advice if you can help me.  I recently regained possession of a powermac 6100/60 . It has some info that I inserted years ago that I would love to retrieve.   I don't have its monitor.  It has a nubus adapter card 820-0515-A dated 1993.  Is that adapter card for the monitor?

1. Is the monitor to be plugged into this card (9 pin female two rows), or into the large boxy jack on the chassis with over 40 holes for pins ?

2. I have an old mac CRT monitor M1212 with a two-row 15 pin male plug for the monitor.  Can I get an adapter to use this monitor with this cpu?

3. I also have a more modern PC CRT with a male connector having three rows of pins for a total of 14 pins.  Can I get an adapter for this monitor for my powermac?

If you can't help me with this, do you know who can?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

There is an adapter that most people used. I think it is called 145-15 for
the number of pins it converts down to, but I am not sure what the actual
name was. Last time I looked they were available on ebay. You might use "mac
6100 monitor adapter" as a search phrase, or some variation thereof. The
7100 had the same type of monitor jack, but also had the standard too, I
think.

Good Luck!

Hi Peter;
It might be easier (Cost & Effort in the long run) to remove the HD,
install that in a USB External case, and then retrieve the data
straight from the HD.

In answer to the adaptor questions, yes, such things are available.

IIRC, the 6100's use SCSI drives, so a USB adapter would not work.
You could just stick the drive in a newer macs that uses SCSI though
if you have one.

Thanks to those who responded to my request. I found an adapter from
the 45 pin jack to the 15 pin monitor cable, and it works fine. I am
able to read my old floppies (ca. 1994) to re-live a previous
existence as a college prof. I also love the text-to-speech program
that comes bundled with the Mac, along with twelve voices, some of
which sing the words you type. Many of my stored documetns were
written on Claris Works, and I can open them fine. Others were
written on Microsoft Works (for apple) which I can't open. How can I
get an old version of that program to open these old documents? That
would complete this trip down memory lane for me.

I love Text-To-Speech! Does OSX (I have never made the change) not have it?
If that is so, I will miss it greatly, for I use it all the time!

It's still present in OSX.
