I have to layer and put socks under my sandals. I do not really have a winter wardrobe. It will be in the 80's here today. My body will be in for a major shock (temp. altitude and humidity). I am excited! Talk with you in a week. Marilyn

This weekend my "regular" meeting schedule was changed for two very good reasons. On Saturday my wife and I were in NYC to celebrate our wedding anniversary - Bye Bye Birdie was awesome on Broadway and brunch at Bryant Park was delicious. In the morning before we went to eat and go to the show we hit a meeting down on 21st Street along the East Side of Manhattan. It was the group's monthly celebration speaker / discussion meeting. As always, it was inspiring to see another A.A. meeting - appreciating the minor differences from how a meeting is run in "my" area while also recognizing the similarities which keep our Fellowship united. Then on Sunday we went to the northern New Jersey area Intergroup Gratitude Brunch - good food, good sobriety - a good opportunity to feel "part of" something wonderful in sobriety!

I believe you are both correct. An example of someone living happy,
joyous and free is the best sermon. It is also so true that a pattern of
denial, dishonesty, along with feelings of anger, resentment, and hopelessness
become a way of thinking. What I like to teach is that "willingness" to try

 Jeremy,
You are correct, people give meaning and value to ceremonies and symbols.
Words mean something only if they are believed and valued by the speaker
and the listener. The same is true for rituals and symbols. I believe they
are given deeper meaning by the Holy Spirit if first we have the right

Sometimes I think an individual may not be able to be honest with themselves much less anyone else. This might indicate that they are still sick and suffering. So, maybe we must have compassion for them while they are sick and suffering. Maybe we who are healthier can lead by example and at the same time not be too hard on them while they are struggling to get healthier. After all, we were all just like that when we were active in our addiction and new to the recovery process. I think the program say we are all right where we are supposed to be and acceptance is our responsibility if we want to remain in a place of serenity. I personally have a responsibility to work on me and that relieves me of the bondage of trying to fix anyone else. I think if I get healthier people might be attracted to me and may seek to find out how I got healthier. Hence the programs amble of attraction rather than promotion. Hope this is helpful. I definitely needed to hear
