This really only worked for me selling to relatives.
It's easy to get sucked into the lure of paying the pro store monthly
fee. I think it's less easy to actually make money.
CafePress probably makes most of its money from store fees and store
owners buying their own merchandise.

For small fees, they will market your item.
Printing of books is high quality, sometimes better than CafePress and
more economical.
The only way it worked for me is publishing a book for my mother. She
is pretty good at promoting her book and doing this legwork.
If you can get a relative of friend to pay you to publish their book,
or give you a cut in the proceeds if they are good at self promotion,
you might make money.

It really is like working for a regular employer although you'll get
half as much or less.
You will be competing against 3rd world programmers.
Most of my projects weren't completed satisfactorily, but if you do
good work on time, you might be able to do OK here.
