POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME 2013
A limited number of College Scholarships are available, and are awarded for the purpose of assisting postgraduate students who are proceeding full-time to a postgraduate degree (by research) at the National University of Ireland, Galway. The holder may not simultaneously register for another course.

The Scholarships are tenable for up to four years. They are awarded in the first instance for a period of one year, but may, subject to the availability of funding, be renewed on an annual basis, provided the holder’s progress in his/her studies is satisfactory and renewal is recommended in writing by the Head of Department. Normally, a Scholarship will be tenable for up to a maximum of two years for the degree of Master, or beyond four years for the degree of PhD, or beyond three years in all.

Qualifications
The minimum qualification for the award of a Scholarship is a primary degree with Second Class Honours, Grade 1, including where appropriate, Second Class Honours, Grade 1, in the subject in which the Scholarship is held.

Value
(a) The value of the Scholarship is €12000 per annum and in addition, fees will be paid by the College if not paid from another source*

(b) Students may also earn up to €6000 per annum from other sources (e.g. Local Authority Higher Education Grants, Embark/IRCSET Scholarships, or any other grant or scholarship)
