Innovation management is moving towards an open innovation model with
industry, universities, and governments collaborating to support scientific
development, wealth creation and publically beneficial activities.
Industry-University research and innovation collaboration is one of the
core features and elements of this open innovation model. This two-day
Conference will provide practical insights how best business, academics and
policy makers on the island of Ireland can exploit Industry-University
research, development and innovation to best effect in context of our
economic recovery. ****

in all industry sectors including SMEs, senior managers in the public and
third sector and anyone with a responsibility for the strategic development

In the two-day Conference programme, a number of business leaders and
academic experts from both sides of the border will explore why the
exploitation of industry and university-based research, development and
innovation (RDI) is crucial to the development of a sustainable
economy. Delegates will also hear the results of cutting-edge research into
innovation and entrepreneurship that is being undertaken in our third level
institutions on the island of Ireland. ****

*Keynote Speaker: Professor Donald Siegel, University at Albany, State
University of New York, USA*
Donald Siegel is Dean of the School of Business and Professor of Management
at the University at Albany, State University of New York and also serves
as President of the Technology Transfer Society. He has taught at
SUNY-Stony Brook, Arizona State University, the University of Nottingham,
and the University of California-Riverside and is an editor of *Academy of
Management Perspectives* and the *Journal of Technology Transfer*, and
serves on the editorial boards of numerous leading academic journals. Prof.
Siegel was recently ranked #2 in the world for academic research on
university entrepreneurship. He has published 96 articles and 6 books on
topics including university technology transfer and entrepreneurship and
corporate and environmental social responsibility in such leading journals
in economics, finance, and management. His most recent books are *Innovation,
Entrepreneurship, and Technological* *Change* and the *Oxford Handbook of
Corporate Social Responsibility*. He has served as a consultant or advisor
to the United Nations, the National Research Council, the Council on
Competitiveness, the U.K., Italian, and Swedish governments, the U.S.
Department of Justice, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and to a
number of consultancy firms. Prof. Siegel was a member of the Advisory
Committee to the Secretary of Commerce on “Measuring Innovation in the 21st
Century Economy” and a member of Governor David Patterson’s Small Business
Task Force. He is an advisor to the National Research Council on the Small
Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR). Prof. Siegel recently
testified before the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology
regarding re-authorisation of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
program.****
