[1.] GALWAY GIY MEETING
======================
The next Galway GIY (Grow It Yourself) monthly meeting is in a very nice
venue with teas and coffees (Galway City Partnership on the Headford Road,
upstairs from Argos) at 7:30pm on Wednesday 9th May. All welcome!

[2.] NEW GALWAY SOCIAL SPACE
===========================
7pm at the Cottage Bar, Lower Salthill on Thursday 10th May. This will be a
2.5 - 3 hour meeting with plenty of breaks so that everyone can input into
what we discuss. Please be there on time so we can start at 7pm as it is a
long enough session.
We intend to run part of the meeting using World Café methods (this is
fairly easy to understand and will be fully explained on the night). There
will be facilitators (Ineke Abbas and Ciara Coy) to help make the meeting
run smoothly.
This is meant to be fun! There will be loads of breaks and we'll take pens,
paper and other materials to allow people to get their ideas down on paper
etc. (this allows us to record the ideas generated on the night also).

PROPOSED AGENDA (To be agreed on the night)
START:
(i.) "Icebreaker" - a bit of fun to start the meeting [10 MINUTES]
(ii.) People's personal objectives for the meeting [15 MINUTES]
(iii.) Agree agenda (items and time per item) [15 MINUTES]
(v.) Experiences of other spaces (presentations/feedback on other similar
projects on how they are/were run, lessons learnt, pitfalls to avoid etc.)
[4x5 MINUTES = 20 MINUTES]

(b.) Seomra Spraoi, Dublin
(c.) Galway Social Space (previous incarnation)
(d.) Spirit Centre
(vi.) Co-operatives as a possible model [10 MINUTES]
VISIONING:
(v.) We envision what we'd like to see be created (using World Café)
NEXT STEPS?:
(vi.) Agree vision, list of interested groups; physical space needs; start
building search; membership (open and free or fees?); financial/business
plan; grants/state/local government aid/support etc.
[3.] GALWAY CYCLING SIGNS PROJECT

It's going to be a DIY kind of meitheal event: get a good gang of people
together to help mount the Galway Cycling Campaign signs in a member's back
garden this Saturday 12th May, 11am – 2pm.
We are aiming to get all of the Campaign's signs up on poles and various
prominent locations around the city by the end of June.
Before we put the signs up we need to mount them. We need you to help us to
do this. This is Phase One. Hammers, nails etc. provided. These signs help
to get road users thinking about the huge benefits of cycling. This project
would particularly suit new people who are curious about what the Campaign
does, and want to contribute on a one-off basis, or maybe more. Phase Two
will involve putting the signs up around the city.
This project just needs a get a group together for two Saturday mornings
for it to achieve the goal of Huge Publicity for cycling in Galway!!!! And
ultimately a change in people's philosophy!!
