Subject: International IT recruitment sites

Hello all,

First of all, I've been reading these posts for a while now and I think the
stuff that goes up is really interesting. I have a question for you though
and I hope you can help. I've been looking for jobs abroad for a while now
with little to no luck. My first thought was Canada, but I was a week late
for the open visas! There is another sort of visa that requires you to have
a job offer, but nobody over there will offer you a job without a visa!
Catch 22 right! Since that seems to be a dead end I've decided to go
somewhere I'm eligible to work, namely somewhere within the E.U. My first
thought was France seeing as I have decent enough French. The problem there
is that i don't have enough to secure a job (the job itself wouldn't
require great French, but the HR department only reply to your emails in
it!). Then I went to the university careers department which has helped me
many times before. They suggested recruitment agents. Their delicious page
isn't great on this topic though. I tried looking for topics tagged
Recruitment Agents and Europe, but most of them weren't much help. The
majority of them just bring you to a page where you are again forced to
read through a different language (Google translate isn't much help as it
doesn't translate any of the buttons etc, mostly just the main text on the
site...). Then any of the sites that claim to be English speaking don't
seem to have any IT jobs listed.

I've spent a while now looking through a lot of these sites, but there must
be an easier way. So I thought I'd ask here to see if any of you have come
across a decent English speaking, International job site or recruitment
agency. Monster is decent, but all the jobs listed are described in the
local language. I've signed up to a few recruitment agencies like BeesWax
and Grafton (and a few French ones), but they haven't been much help yet.

My main interest is security, but I'd happily work doing Android, web or
embedded stuff.

Any help in any form is greatly appreciated,
Chris

P.S. Sorry for the big long spiel :)

Have you tried searching LinkedIn for jobs? They seem to have more than a few.

I wouldn't let French correspondence with HR departments deter you
from a job -- others (like me) can certainly help with that.

Asking your Cisco contacts for leads might also help -- perhaps they
could help you find an internship in Canada?

When's the next open visa period?

-Jodi
