The Wikipedia article on the Macartney Baronets makes the unusual claim that the "heir apparent" [not even "heir presumptive"] is one " Lord Clancarte, Jonathan Charles McCarten 10th Earl of Clancarte".

Is this a joke, or is he someone omitted in all known Peerage works?

I note that though the apparent Heir Presumptive must be known, no one is so designated in the Debrett's editions I have, possibly because the Baronet himself has not had his name entered on the Roll?

This is simply vandalism, which unfortunately hasn't been spotted since it was added by an anonymous editor in April last year. It's now gone.

(For some reason, it is quite common for people to edit Wikipedia in order falsely to assign various real and imaginary titles to themselves.)

According to Debrett's 2003 the correct heir presumptive is John Alexader MACARTNEY OAM (born 1961) and this is confirmed in the most recent Kershaw list.  According to DB 2003 the hp is married 1986, but no issue listed. The current baronet, the hp and all the collaterals, of whom there are many more listed, are in Australia.
