who'd take a Jay-Z / Nas full album with production from:
Primo, Just Blaze, Ol' Big Head

and guest appearances kept to a mininum but maybe featuring:
Jadakiss
AZ
Cormega
Freeway
Sigel
Peedi

people who would sound good with one or the other of the artists, but
wouldn't fit on a cut with both of them cos they would sound 'out of
place':
Jeezy
Ghostface
Bravehearts

Holy shit, why didn't I think of this sooner?

Sounds a bit too east-coastish. I bet they'd try to diversify.

Did I miss something? Are Nas and Mega cool again?

I have a hard time imagining it period. First, I'd like to see
an AZ/Nas album. That's a team that''s been proven to work.

Wow, I just this minute been debating this with myself and pressed
'post' before I read this: http://peaceandpaper.blogspot.com/

I'm thinking Primo, Pete Rock (if he can start making interestng beats
again), Large Pro with a couple from Kanye and Blaze thrown in.

Yep. I would throw in Raekwon as well for a track with Nas and Ghost.

Yeah they squashed it a couple of months ago. I can't wait until they
start working together again.

Yeah I think I have a hard time imagining it over anything but east
cloast beats.

Pete Rock is officially back in the game. IMO. "Be Easy" while not the
best beat he's made is the first thing he's done in a couple of eyars
that doesn't sound exactly like everyhting else he's done recently. It
bounces which is a real start.

Why do you want the producers of Illmatic to produce this album? be
original, your shit is sloppy, get off the dick you motherfucking carbon
copy.
Okay that was a Dre quote I just got carried away, I'm not really
dissing you.

This I'd like.

I think my ideal "Kings Of New York" (I tax that title, when it's
officially announced I should win a prize okay?) album would be like
this:

Production: Primo, Just Blaze, Egoman, Collie Park and ET3
Guests: None except for on two posse cuts. One of them a ROC posse cut
with Free, Beans and Peedi Peedi (Blaze beat) and the other a Nas posse
cut with AZ and if need be Mega (Primo beat). Jungle can shout the hook.

I win.

Ol' Big Head = Kanye right??? Just making sure but any album produced
by those 3 would be nice...

Like someone else mentioned would love to hear a track with Rae, Ghost,
and Jigga... Add Raekwon and I dont see why this couldn't be one of the
best albums ever...

Even tho most collabo albums disappoint...

Yeah Be Easy is nice, unfortunately I started thinking he was returning
to form and then I heard Raekwon's "Kids Thats Rich" which is probably
one of the worst Pete Rock beats I've heard.

Lol! I just think for Jigga and Nas to sound natural on one album it
has to have that sound. I think if they were over all Kanye, Blaze and
Neptunes beats then Jigga might shine but Nas will be horrible. If it
has Illmatic-esque production then they both have a chance to kill it.
Not that I'm saying it should be Illmatic, but that East Coast sound.

I think Jay would shine on an album like this but I can't see Nas
shining on it. I don't know why but I just have a feeling that Nas
isn't as versatile as Jay when it comes to beats, he sound sperfect
over a certain style but mediocre over most other styles. Make sense,
probably not.

See I don't think this is true about Nas. He has barely experimented.
Nas has mainly rocked two types of beats. Classic east coast beats and
crap east coast beats.
He sounded fucking dope over Lil Jon on "Quick To Back Down" and even
better (imo) over Timbaland on "U Owe Me". I think he can be just as
versatile as Jay if he lets himself, its just that he spends his time
trying to please some bizarre definition of what Nas should be.

If Jay is in charge chances are he'd pick the beats. :-) Here's hoping.

I wouldn't touch it. it would reek of desperation and
commercialisation...sort of on the level of Jay's last two collabos with
other artist

anybody who could kill tone and poke production back in the day, making it
sound street credibile can FLOW OVER ANYTHING.

also dust off your copy of the lost tapes.

plus check street dreams the remix with r kells and contrast that with one
mic (almost rock influenced in its production)

nas can spit fire on most anything - that's why he's leagues ahead of anyone
in the game. jay knows this

Yeah you make a good point actually, especially about trying to be what
he thinks Nas should be.

I liked him over U Owe Me, but I've heard him on a few Neptunes remixes
and a couple of other Timbo joints (I'll dig them out if I can find
them) and he sounds ok but not as good as he has done.

I have to admit, haven't heard the Lil Jon track so I'ma check that
out.

I fucking hope so!

I've been listening to it last three days. I don't see how that proves
that he doesn't sound better over a certain style of beats though. I
mean they're not straight East coast beats but they aren't quite the
same sort of beats that Jay has been rocking so he doesn't really show
his versatility on Lost Tapes no matter how dope it is imo.

> plus check street dreams the remix with r kells and contrast that with one

Whoah, I dunno if I agree with this. The man hasn't diversified enough
to suport this statement. It may be true, but what I'm saying is that
he doesn't have enough to back this statement up.
