Hello,

it seemed like an Odysee (those involved in the process will know what I mean (-;) but the latest release of Optech's LMS is finally able to export proper and LAS specification conform full waveform LiDAR using the FWF extension of LAS 1.3  (e.g. point types 4 and 5). I have checked correctness for two strips flown here in the Philippines, one by a Gemini and the other by (one beam/channel of) a Pegasus. The Aquarius check is still in progress.

The attached images show that the waveforms go clearly through the different returns. There are up to five returns per shot and you can see nicely how the digitized waveforms connect them (red=first, blue=last, green=intermediate). This visualization is done using lasview by pressing <s> to get the first few points, then <W> to turn on the full waveform display and then <i> while hovering above a point to select different sets of points for which to display the waveforms.

The two files both pass the lasvalidate check with flying colors. Even the CRS info is correct. The lasinfo reports for both files are attached. Below the first two points and the waveform they reference as converted to ASCII text with las2txt.

Big thanks to Joida from the DREAM LiDAR team at the University of the Philippines in Manila for preparing all the test data sets needed to iron out the bugs including the latest ones reported here and also to the LMS software engineering and product release teams at Optech for - if with a few month delay - getting a fixed LMS version out the door.

Regards,
