I've had Space Melody since Sept 4th 2001.
I've actually never heard the PPK song (AFAIK), but a quick web search
says it was released Feb 2001.
The PPK song also apparently samples a Russian TV show theme about
space, or something like that.
There's been promos of the PPK track around for ages, I heard it some time
around October last year, and didn't think much of it particularly. It ain't
bad, but it didn't do anything for me.

Resurrection has been on mp3.com for at least 2 years.

Here in the UK it seems hard to avoid that PPK tune. I rather liked it when
I first heard the tune. But IMHO it's played to bloody death, on the radio,
everywhere. So I'm sick of it now.
But that melody does remind me of when I used to play Kings Quest IV on my
old 286 in the 80's...

I agree. It's been on mp3.com for at least a year, and when I downloaded
it, I thought it was OK, but nothing special. I preferred their other big
track - 'I have a dream'. When ResuRection was released over here though, I
realised how great it was. The airplay it's been getting is OTT, but it's
gotta be good publicity for trance in general? If only radio stations could
have a bit more variety - as we know, there's lots of great trance music out
there other than PPK, Ian Van Dahl, Lange, etc.

Richard
Hmmm, I finally heard it, and while it's pretty good, I like Luna
Park's Space Melody much better. But I also like that style of trance
better.
The sample used in both is the theme from an old Russian film called
'Sibiriada', which means that PPK's song was almost certainly first,
as they are Russian, like Luna Park is german. Unless they are East
German, I doubt they ever saw that movie...
I can't believe no one has sampled the them from "Attack of the
Hawkman". That would be perfect candidate.
Have a look at ppk's website at http://english.ppk.ru. From this it sounds
like resurrection has been around for ages but I don't know whether it's
longer Luna Park - Space Melody.
