to play hl coop in the single play version of the game and if so how ?

it has a map called singleplayer or something which is all the levels from
the original game, which you can play with up to 8 people. It's also got
it's own storyline and maps.

You could also just change the level to an SP one. Examples include:
c0a0 - Tram Ride Beginning
c4a3 - Half-Life Boss
c5a1 - Gman's Offer (This level is VERY buggy)
