we see that Catherine Fortrey, who by marrying (as his second wife)
Sir Peter Apsley of St James, Westminster; Cofferer to James II,
became the mother of that Catherine Apsley who Leo shows and who
descends, among others, to Capt Mark Phillips, the ex husband of
Princess Anne.
Leo however does not show when they married of any details of her
parents.
Sir Peter Apsley's first wife Anne Somebody was buried 7 Sep 1681 in
Westminster Abbey
Subsequently Peter and Catherine obtained a marriage license dated 24
Sep 1687 from Arch.Cant. "she 22, her parents dead"
Her father is identified as Samuel Fortrey, she is called on the
license "of St Martin in the Fields"
There is an extracted IGI entry for Catherine, daughter of Samuel
Fortrey and his wife Theodora, baptised 17 Nov 1663 at Witcham, co
Camb. (Batch C135337 wj)
I would say that this... is them.

Samuel was yet living in 1678 but had died by 1682 when Theodora first
appears as a widow in a document. Their son and heir was also named
Samuel, he was of London in 1682 at that time a Gent, and he married
Elizabeth Bigg their marriage settlment dated 13 Sep 1683.
He didn't live long, Elizabeth appearing as a widow, and his brother
William appearing as "heir of his brother Samuel" in 1690
In addition to these siblings there was a "Trevor Fortrey", female,
which odd name might lead to grandparents. And there was a Mary
Fortrey who married Philip Parker a Morley of Erwarton, Knt and Bnt

Her name being Elizabeth and here it states that her maternal
grandfather was Bishop William Chadderton

Since Sir Richard next married (in 1608) to Catherine Neville, a Cecil
5, this entire line of descent comes into my research project.
Catherine (Fortrey) Apsley, with whom I started, now becomes a Cecil
9. And Mark Phillips gains some royal descents from the Brooke/
Touchet families.

Thomas Jocelyn, the father of Torrell, after his first wife Dorothy
Frank died May 1602, married again to Theodora Cooke, the daughter of
Edmond Cooke of Mount Mascall, co Kent, esq by his wife Elizebeth
Nicolls coheiress of her father John Nicholls.
By this wife Theodora Cooke (widow of Clement Bere of Dartford, co
Kent), Thomas Jocelyn had four more children.
Among these four was that Henry Jocelyn who was deputy-governor of
Maine in 1645 !

There is a pretty extensive pedigree of the family of Josselyn {or
Jocelyn, Jocelin, Joseline, among other spellings) in vol. 71 of NEHGR
(1917), available on-line at:

[watch the line wrap]
Some delving into the pedigree could probably uncover some interesting
connections.
