Dear Puan Jacintha,Thank you so much for you kind support.Dear En. Danil,Thank you for your help. Please find below a short description of our joint proposalIn short, we would like to study properties of doped optical fibers, used for measuring radiation dose particularly in the irradiated food industry.Executive Summary
In order to provide for food safety, radiation dosimetry in irradiated food is required [1]. However, modern dosimeters and methods have poor sensitivity and complex measurement process. Doped silica fibre thermoluminescence dosimeters are suitable candidates to overcome such shortcomings. Nonetheless, there are still unanswered fundamental questions relating to doped silica fibres thermoluminescence dosimeters.
Recently, the Food Irradiation Regulations 2011 under the Food Act 1983 has been introduced. However, no provision is available on the measurement of absorbed dose in irradiated food. Furthermore, the absence of such provision may erode the public and market acceptance towards irradiated food. This may subsequently effect agricultural produce exports and one of the National Key Economic Area (NKEA).
This proposal entails a research program that will embark on a collective and interdisciplinary effort to accomplish the fundamental study of doped silica fiber thermoluminescence dosimetry. Subsequently the program also proposes to assess the public and market acceptance on irradiated food, particularly with and without a radiation dosimetry procedures. The outcome of the proposed program leads to a simple and effective method for radiation dosimetry using doped silica fiber thermoluminescence dosimeters, subsequently to recommend regulations in measuring absorbed dose in irradiated food to the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Thanks,
HAIRUL

Dear Dr.Hairul,
I have discussed with my colleague in International Division and he is copied in this e-mail.
We do have an MoU on S&T with India which covers the areas of RE, grass root innovation and biotechnology.
On your proposed joint project, we would like you to send in a short summary/proposal on the project to see which category it may fall under or does it need a new sub-group altogether.
Would appreciate if you could do that by sending in your project proposal to En.Danil in International Division, MOSTI and he would then advise you accordingly on this matter.
Thank you.

Jacinta

Dear Jacinta,
Thanks so much for your reply. I am proposing a joint project with CGCRI India. However, I need an 'umbrella' to work under. Can MOSTI and the Indian Department of Science have an MOU to sponsor (not necessarily money, just endorsement is good for now) projects between Malaysia and India?
Appreciate if you can direct me to the International Division.
Thanks,
HAIRUL

Dear Dr.Hairul,
i have checked with my colleagues on this as well. My division solely deals with ICT related matters and we did not have any collaboration between Universities / TM and India. our collaboration with TM is for PNG. and for universities, at that point was with Algeria.
with india, we had our joint committee meeting on ICT in Malaysia sometime last year. our conterpart was the Ministry over there while MDeC had a meeting with NASSCOM, India. There we no universities at our meeting.
Hence, i would appreicate if you could let me know how we could assist you in this matter. if you could help explain futher on the assistance required, then maybe i could direct you to our international division in the Ministry for assistance.
Thank you.

Subject: Bilateral Collaboration with IndiaDear Ms Jacinta,
My name is Hairul from MMU Cyberjaya. I am currently in talks with the Central Glass and Ceramics Research Institute (CGCRI) for a possible research collaboration project.
I have recalled that in 2009, there was an initiative to match Malaysian universities, TM and Indian counterparts (at that point together with PNG and Russia).
May I know how the previous bilateral initiative can help me with current talks with CGCRI?
Thank you,
HAIRUL
Dear Prof. Dr.,

Assalamualaikum,
Dear Dato'
I am leading a group of researchers from a few local universities on a project related to fiber radiation dosimeter. Our focus application us on irradiated food.I have been trying to get hold of En Danil (but to no avail) to assist us on a potential collaboration with one Dr Mukul Paul from CGCRI, India.
Look forward to your advise on how to best move forward.
Thank you.
