I've been searching all over and can't find out how to get tickets for a taping
of the new Card Sharks. Can anyone help?

I'm most interested in auditioning to be a contestant on this show. Is there a
contestant line yet?

Five shows were taped but were found to be un-airable. They're now building a
new set (their third, which has got to be some sort of record for a show that's
has yet to air), hired a new director and other new staffers. Things keep
going from bad to worse on this show.

Chris Jaunsen and I plan on seeing a taping next month. We'll let you
know how it turns out!

I can't speak for MrGameShw, but as a former employee of the company I consider
this kind of incompetence a disgrace. So should you.

With any luck the shows you see being taped will actually see air. In the
not-so-improbable event that they don't, you and Chris can tell us how far past
midnight they keep you in the studio ;-)

My comments regarding the pilot they shot should speak to the
contempt I feel for everyone involved with this abomination, and
that includes Pearson's Manager of Development, who should know
better. That said, it's obvious that if MrGameShw were more
closely involved with this PoS, he'd be more diplomatic in his
observations, rather than MrSourGrapes.

I also suspect his *recent* comment regarding homosexuals are
driven by a feeling of jealousy over having been beaten out for a
high-profile position within Pearson by a homosexual.

"Pearson's Manager of Development", a guy who is *very well* respected
among almost of us game show fans, both as an innovator and a good
person, is doing more for the promotion of viable, classic games than
anyone I know, and certainly anyone else on this newsgroup. He does
not run the company and is only one voice among many at the company.
He loves his job and does a damn good job at it, and he's trying his
hardest to make both his company happy as well as us die-hard game
show fans. It's definitely a tough balancing act and I'd like to see
anyone else on here do it better than he can.

Let me make one thing clear: This "Manager of Development" has worked
on exactly one game show. As a writer.

I highly suggest he spend a few months with C319Chris, among others,
to learn how to develop a game show properly.

Well thank you, Brian. I am sincerely flattered by your remark.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience writing, researching, developing,
pitching or producing game shows. You don't see any royalty checks for Switch?
lying around on my desk, do you? :-P

No offence intended to either you or Brad but please would someone just
name the guy so that everyone can make up our own minds? :-)

I can't find the details on the GSN site or the Pearson site, which
wasn't entirely surprising.

Cheers!

Yes! The only people I know that apparently don't care for him are
replying to this post, and that's surprising because we've all hung
out together and no one has had any ill will towards him.

> Let me make one thing clear: This "Manager of Development" has worked

But his ideas go far beyond that, and in the next months he may be
single-handedly responsible for bringing back a few of Pearson's
titles that people spend hours on here begging to come back. Plus
having been at a few runthroughs for shows he himself created, I know
that he also knows how to develop a new game show himself

I really don't understand why people would take out anger against Card
Sharks towards him, since if he yelled and screamed that he wanted it
back exactly like it was 12 years ago, he wouldn't have a job. He has
to satisfy his bosses, but I assure you that he wants to see classic
games out there as much as we do.

Didn't he work on the Streaks runthrough with you guys, and didn't
everyone get along? People seemed quite friendly towards each other
the day I saw the runthrough. I'm at a loss again why everyone seems
to have an issue with him, when's he's never really done anything to
hurt anyone's feelings, and in terms of his job is just trying to do
the best work he can.

I have no animosity toward Mandel. Yes, he assisted us in the execution of the
run-thru and we greatly appreciate his help, but he was not involved in the
conceptual development of Streaks.

>he may be single-handedly responsible for bringing back a few of Pearson's titles

I have my doubts as to whether anyone at Pearson does anything single-handedly
(in the realm of game shows, anyway). As you just said, he has to keep his
bosses happy.

>having been at a few runthroughs for shows he himself created, I know
>that he also knows how to develop a new game show himself

Truth be told, were these run-thrus done under the auspices of a veteran game
show producer who works for a veteran TV packager?

No one said anything about yelling and screaming, but one would
expect Manager of Development to be more than a ceremonial title
that roughly translates to "Jeff Mirkin's Boy."

Is HRH unable to speak for himself?
