chroma PSNR is better than luma why?

Hi,

What could be the reason for chroma PSNR always better than luma PSNR?
Any references, links are welcome.

I don't think anyone has looked into the specific causes of this. I'd
agree that it looks like an opportunity though.

i'd say it's because chroma planes inherently (by design) contains less information. So it's
harder to make large coding errors. It's also easier to predict with intra-coding prediction
modes.
