Good Evening Primary Families,

I need your help! We have a few issues that I need your help in solving by either complying or understanding that I have only a limited number of staff members.

1.We have several students that are not adhering to the uniform dress code and I don’t think it’s intentional, so I thought I’d clarify a few things.

·         The shoe policy is sneakers or other shoes that have rubber soles that are appropriate for PE. I wanted to make it as easy on families as possible so I set the policy at “predominately black or predominately white”. However, more and more this week I am seeing colors, florals, plaids, and silver sneakers. To clarify the policy, shoes may have a colored sole, striping (eg. Adidas), or a colored logo (eg. Nike), but sequined shoes are not acceptable. Additionally, high tops and/or sneaker boots are not acceptable.

·         Socks must be solid white or black. They should not have decorations such as ruffles as I want to save those kinds of socks for our special sock days.

·         I know that we have students that are not wearing the authorized bottoms and I expect that soon ALL uniform clothing will be in compliance. PPA takes pride in teaching children to follow rules and we would like parents to be role models by following the rules as well.

2. Homework Club:

·         Homework club is intended to be a time for students to get their homework done in a quiet environment where they can receive some assistance, if needed. It is not a babysitting service, nor a tutoring session.

·         I have had as many as 90 students in Homework Club, many of which are Kindergarten or First Grade. We believe that the parent should be working on any homework with those grade levels, so we are changing the way Homework Club is implemented on the Primary side.

  • Homework Club is now going to be a sign-up club for grades 2-3. Students may sign up for 5 days per week, but there will be a limited number of spots available.

 3. Extended Pick Up

·         In order to help parents choose different options for pickup, I am changing Extended Pick Up. This is a time from 2:30 – 3:30 where your child will be in Aftercare and be able to have a nutritious snack that includes fruit each day and your child gets to play with their friends. This service costs $5 per day. You need to either sign up ahead of time or you may call the office should you need your child to “drop in” to Extended Pickup just for a day. You may pick up your child any time between 2:30-3:30 if you are paying for this service. If your child is not picked up by 3:30, they will continue in Aftercare at the normal drop in rate of $18.

4. Clubs

·         Clubs are available to sign up on Sign Up Genius at  www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0A45A8AC2DA20-primary . You may sign your child up for ONLY ONE club. Please do not sign them up for more than one. Please look carefully at the grade levels as most clubs are limited to particular grades. Please put your CHILD'S first AND last name in the 'Comment' section of the sign up.

·         Homework club is only for grades 2 & 3 and is a separate Sign Up Genius at www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0A45A8AC2DA20-homework

Thank you for your cooperation!
