Hello,

I am writing to announce a leadership change for the working group batch (wg-batch). I will be stepping down as co-chair and would like to nominate Amy Chen (@amy) as a co-chair.

My two years as co-chair have been incredibly rewarding. During this time, Kueue adoption has grown significantly, and our core projects remain strong. Many of the solutions we developed for Kueue, JobSet, and Job are now influencing the direction of wg-workload-aware-scheduling. I plan to focus my future efforts on making Kubernetes workload-aware and will be moving into a role as co-chair for wg-workload-aware-scheduling.

I am proud to nominate Amy Chen as the new co-chair for wg-batch. Amy joined our community as an end-user and has been instrumental in pushing Kueue toward better scheduling observability. Her contributions span many areas, including identifying scheduling bottlenecks, advocating for end-user needs, surfacing production bugs, and leading community engagement efforts. Amy provides a vital perspective as both an end-user and platform admin, and she truly embodies the wg-batch mission of reducing community fragmentation.

If you have any concerns regarding this nomination, please reach out to the current Organizers or the Steering Committee.

The deadline for lazy consensus on this change is June 12th, 2026.

Best regards,

Kevin Hannon

Hey y'all!

Thank you so much Kevin for the nomination and for your mentorship navigating open source. It's been a privilege working alongside you. Outside of your contributions to JobSet, TrainJob integration, DRA, and agent skills, you have a rare knack for connecting the dots across SIGs and WGs. You know where a change actually belongs, who needs to be in the room, and how the historical context shapes what's possible today. That kind of cross functional skill is what makes change happen upstream, and it's a big part of why wg-batch is such a welcoming place to contribute. I hope to carry that torch. I'm so excited to see where you take wg-workload-aware-scheduling next!

I'm honored to accept the nomination as co-chair. A lot of what makes wg-batch work is the people in it: the maintainers, contributors, and end-users who keep showing up to make Kueue, JobSet, and Job better. I'm looking forward to continuing that work together.

Happy to chat with anyone who has questions or ideas, please reach out anytime!

Thanks,
Amy (@amy)

Thanks for all your great contributions to WG Batch, Kevin!
It’s been amazing to watch how Kubernetes evolves to better support batch workloads over the past few years.

Congratulations, Amy – very well deserved. I am super excited to see where these projects go next!

Thank you, Kevin, for leading wg-batch over the past two years and helping the initiative grow. Best of luck with your new challenge leading WAS.

Congrats, Amy! I’m excited to collaborate on Kueue, JobSet, and the other projects under the group.

I’m sure the groups will continue working together on this powerful integration, providing a great UX for running workloads on Kubernetes.

Regards,
Michal
