I download HYCOM data using ocean_toolbox in matlab. The timestamp it returns is at 12z, however, on the HYCOM website the currents are described as a snapshot at 00z. Why is there a disparity in the timestamp when I extract the data using ocean_toolbox?

Thanks
Claire

I am not exactly sure what you have downloaded, but "archm" files are
daily averages centered at 12Z. The "archv" files are instantaneous
snapshots typically at 00Z.
