Make sure the Body Protector you have selected has been designed for your activity.
Severe body injuries, including paralysis or death may occur despite the use of a Body Protector. No Body Protector can prevent against spinal injuries, Commotio Cordis (sudden disturbance of heart rhythm) or crushing injuries that may occur in equestrian or rodeo activities."
And here is their statement about their helmets:
"WARNING: THIS HELMET IS DESIGNED FOR EQUESTRIAN USE ONLY
Severe head injury, including paralysis or death may occur to you despite the wearing of this helmet. No helmet can prevent all head or neck injuries a person might receive while participating in equestrian activities. All Equestrian sports and activities have intrinsic hazards. Participating in such sports or activities implies acceptance of the risk of injury or death. Phoenix Performance Products Inc., or its vendors neither make nor imply any claim or representation for this helmet’s protective ability."
Pretty much all manufacturers and retailers will have some variation of these statements available both before purchase and it will be included in the product literature that comes with the product.
