Amigo, the horse impaled by a tree branch in January has had several very good days and nights in a row now. His temperature has been around 100, pulse in the 40's and respiration in the 30's. Last night he actually laid down to sleep - I believe this is only the second or third time he's laid down since his accident on January 17th.

His bandage from the wound was changed yesterday and everything was looking good. Amigo spends good-weather days outside. When he's inside, Dr Frank has begun leaving the wound open and uncovered: "it's pretty graphic and probably... not good for kids!" Amigo has lots of visitors besides Gary and Kara : )

He's finally eating grain normally now and he's starting to put on a little weight.

Gary thinks he may be able to go home soon...

Here is Amigo's fan page on facebook, where Gary sends updates several times a day:

I noted today that Dressage Rider Courtney King is in her 12th day of Coma. This got me to wondering how our person
in Australia is doing?

Anyone know?

Try reading Yukon Alone by John Balzar. It's about 'the other'
dogsled race that doesn't get all the publicity. Good read.

Mine too! Paulsen describes the emotional bond between dog/horse and
person and the lure/fascination of the long trail beaconing where you'll
be one with your animal.

They are selling tee shirts and coffee mugs to benefit him. Rider Camper Charlene Stinett is one of the designers.
