Subject: enabling network connections to the chrome os Xserver

(He's back.)

I have a bunch of developers who are very interested in getting
chromebook/boxes, but they all need to be able to display X windows from
other servers on the Chrome device (i.e. using the Chrome OS X server).
This issue is all that is holding them back from using a Chrome OS device
as their working machine.

Excuses: yes I could figure this out, and it's probably simple, but
personally don't need/want this myself, and I haven't found a write up.
Ubuntu is one distro I've not used yet, and not sure what Chrome OS
gotcha's there might be.  I'm thinking it's possible to do though.

Is there a ready made recipe for enabling this?

I'd like to get these guys on Chrome OS devices.

Thanks

P.S.  Unlike my previous thread, I realize this is seeking to do something
that is pretty much the opposite of seeking secure modes of running, but
that's intrinsic to what they want to do and so acceptable to them.

With the new Aura UI, this is no longer possible (at least not easy).
Before, Chrome OS used a more traditional X window manager, but now it's
all using a single window with in-app window management (simplified, but
more or less that's how it works).

So, a traditional X app (client) won't play well with the Aura windowing
system.

You are probably better off running the X application remotely and using
Chrome Remote Desktop to that remote machine and getting to the application
that way.
