I saw another thread here in which another member of these discussion
groups was complaining about the fact that the Cr-48 they applied for
was taking forever to arrive. I am having a similar issue again, as
even though I applied a long time ago (before I got off school for the
Christmas break) and still haven't gotten it.

The netbook I currently have is practically falling apart, but the
folks at Google reading the applications don't care.

Sorry for the rant, but just what is taking the Cr-48 so long to
arrive? If you can merge this discussion into the Cr-48 discussion
(entitled simply "Cr-48") with the posts by Ernest Siew in it, please
do so.

That's not quite how it works - not everyone that applies for one will be given one.

At what point in the application did you read they promised you a free
laptop?

Yea unfortunately its not first-come-first-serve. I applied literally
minutes after the launch and have not received one (yet????). Its
based on how google wants to benefit from the pilot and location
based. So maybe you, me, we just live in the wrong area. But luckily
thanks to the forums we aren't completely left out. We get to stay on
top of all the research these fine folks are doing.

It says they will contact you if you have been accepted that pretty much means if they accept you then you get one if they dont accept you then you dong get one.  You can bet mad if you want but really what does all that negative energy do.  Its their pilot program.  Its their right to pick and choose.  We are just the applicants who hope to be a part.  I still have not gotten one either and still hope to but I am not gonna hold it against Google if they never give me CR-48 love.  I still love em.

Yeah, thats not at all how it works. You apply and Google decides if
you are accepted or not. This isn't a "Apply for a guaranteed free
laptop" program.

Well said rosemarye,
No need for negative energy. Complaining won't get you into the pilot
and besides all the laptops haven't been distributed yet, no need to
get on googles bad side, that will only lead to more complaints when
you get passed over on the next pilot.

OMG sorry for all the terrible spelling mistakes.  LOL  I have been stuck in Las Vegas, NV airport all day so my brain is a little fried.

I am hoping to see more people getting the computers soon.  I suspect alot more might go out after the 1st of the year, but then again I am not Google.  I am just me. LOL.

I for one, who write and am agoraphobic, really appreciate that i have this tool that i can take with me out of my house and still have a wee bit of a shield while sitting at it in a coffee shop, library, etc and not holed up in front of my pc.  It is a tool to help get me out of my home and in public as well as a tool to do all the things i do with social media, publishing, etc.  I love them so much for what this does for me, even the quirkiness of some things not really being quite right but that is what beta testing is about, right?

Well some people have reported being contacted, others have reported
receiving the laptop without prior notice. Just wait till all 60,000
have been distributed I guess.

I never applied. I had what could be best called a POP UP in my Chrome
Browser asking if I wanted to Test Drive a Chromium Laptop.

Check zip code 30047 on the tracker...They shipped mine on the 9th and
I received it ON THE 9th!!!

Anyone else get this "pop up"?

I got the popup. Ignored it for a week because I had filled out an application.. I finally clicked on it. Still, it was 10 days before mine showed up. I was very pleasantly surprised to receive one.

Have not heard anyone say they just got theirs since before Christmas.  I signed up and I figure by now that I probably will not get one.  But I watch and learn anyway cause my boyfriend has one.  I do hope that Google got a large enough sample to get really good feedback.  I would love to see more people chosen as I believe the sample size is kind of small.  However I am just a user wondering like everyone else.    I hope that Google can make this work.  Its a great idea.    There is a large enough audience of people who really do not need a full potential of a computer that this would possibly make very happy.

My suggestion is to just let it go.  If your meant to have one then it will show up if not what can you do.  Worrying or whatever does not change what is.

Kind Regards,

Rosemarye E. Pizana

Adding to what beth said, there are sure to be other pilots besides
this one coming soon. New year and more testing to be done.

On the bright side, I never knew how good google chrome could be till
I visited all these cr48 forums. I benefitted even though I'm one of
the (millions of) people who were not fortunate to get a cr48.
