I'm on a Samsung Chromebook (Chrome version info below). The backtick
key works in the browser, although I do have to press it twice to have
it output the character. The backtick key *doesn't* work at all in
crosh (ctrl-alt-t) or the developer shell accessed through crosh (ctrl-
alt-t followed by typing 'shell'). The backtick key does work in the
developer console accessed through VT2 (ctrl-alt-=>)

Is there anything I need to do to access the backtick character in
crosh/developer console?

As a slight aside, I've also noticed that the developer console
accessed through VT2 appears to use an American keyboard layout. Is
it possible to change that?

Cheers, Chris

## Chrome version info

Platform 2046.68.0 (Official Build) beta-channel x86-alex_he

i don't think we ship kbd in release images by default, so there won't
be loadkeys/etc... for you to run. you'd have to compile & load those
programs and the appropriate keyboard maps, as well as execute them
yourself to make it work.

Can you see if there are any messages in the js console?

I've just checked and there are no messages in the js console.  I have noticed that this problem only appears to exist when I'm using the UK Keyboard layout in Chrome.  If I enable and switch to the US Keyboard layout then I can type the backtick correctly.  Could this be a bug with the UK Keyboard layout/mapping?

Cheers, Chris

+chromium-hterm

I think this is a bug in the way hterm (or maybe Chrome) handles key events from non-US layouts.

Thanks for the pointer to that issue, Rob.  I've just added some info there too.

I'm a bit confused by the +chromium-hterm line in your reply.  Is that a suggestion that I should post this to the chromium-hterm list too?

Cheers, Chris

Thanks for updating the bug.

That line was supposed to indicate that I had added chromium-hterm to the cc list.  Looking back on it though, I forgot to actually add the list.  They're cc'd on this reply.
