Simulating keystrokes, anyone succeeded?

I have been attempting to trigger Chrome's page zooming by simulating
<Ctrl> + <+>. But it seems and is reported that there is a bug in
WebKit that prevents any software-simulated keyboard events from
taking effect. Has anyone succeeded in this?

This is not a bug, I believe, but a security/privacy/similar feature.
You cannot work around that, the only way is using native code (NPAPI or your own build of Chromium).
